Appraiser recommendation?

Hi ladies, I want to get my ring insured (of course!) but I need to get it appraised because the valuation certificate I have is in £ not $ (FI got it in the UK) and they need a US appraisal in US dollars.  Boo.  Does anyone have a recommendation for a good place to get my ring appraised?  I don't want to have to leave my ring somewhere either!  TIA!

i got my ring appraised through Marci Jewelry in Bellevue. I left it for about 2 weeks, but that's because they were closed the week before 4th of july, and then i was out of town the week after in mexico with my girlfriends, so i didnt want to wear it down there. it worked out well for me. i think they are normally really quick with it. they're awesome to work with and i highly recommend them.

Thanks!  I'll give them a call.  Ben Bridge is also a certified appraiser or whatever, so I called the one at U Village and they want to take my ring for FIFTEEN DAYS.  Hell no!

I took mine to the North American Gemological Laboratory in Bellevue (http://www.na-gl.com/). It's one place that lots of jewelers use for appraisals. I waited about a half hour while they appraised my ring, and they gave me a really detailed report. I wouldn't leave my ring with anyone for an appraisal...it's just not necessary.

It's also a good idea to take it to a neutral party instead of a retail jeweler.
