FOOD!

What foods are you having at your reception? We're doing stir-fry stations(chicken/pork/shrimp), ginger chicken satays (the caterer sticks them in whole pineapple-cool presentation!), potstickers, and fresh fruit.....also cupcakes on the tables instead of everyone getting up to get a piece of cake (we'll just cut a small one). We just decided on this menu last night with our caterer and it feels great to have that taken care of!

Congrats on the check!  Your food sounds delicious!

I still have to book my caterer and cupcake vendor Embarassed  But I have the candidates narrowed down.

We'll be serving BBQ food with smoked salmon and pulled pork, with black bean dip and fruit for appetizers, and corn bread and baked potatoes (with butter and sour cream) for side dishes.

We will be serving cupcakes for desert, but I think we'll be serving them from a "cupcake tower" so it looks a little more traditional.

We are doing Italian.  We're going to start with passed appetizers, one will be bruschetta, not sure about the other one yet.  Choice of two salads, caesar or whatever the kind is with apples and nuts (sorry can't remember the name), and then fruit and veggie platters.  We get to pick two entrees, I'm pretty sure we will go with lasagna, not sure about the other one yet. We are curerntly narrowing down our cake choices, in the running is red velvet, pink champagne, tiramisu, and FI's favorite from the tasting--rum cake!

    Congrats! That sounds delish!

All our food has fancy names that I can't remember, but when it boils down to it it's basically passed appetizers, chicken, a side, salad, and bread.

We haven't decided on cake flavors yet, but FI vetoed cupcakes :o( So, we're having a traditional cake.

I love the asian and BBQ inspired menus for summer events!  That's going to be delicious.

We're having an Italian buffet.  Bruscetta, shrimp, stuffed mushrooms for passed aps.  Caprese salad, garlic mash, chicken marsala, carved beef, salmon, antipasto veggies, tortellini, breads.  Then we're serving some late night food to include mini chicken sliders and a nacho station.  FI is so excited about the nacho station that he can't contain himself.  I hope that no one leaves our event hungry and that I get a chance to eat some if not all of it!

We're doing heavy appetizers instead of a standard buffet line.  I like the variety of 10 different appetizers/finger foods, and it also works out to be way less expensive at about $35/person for everything caterer-related (food, labor, etc.).  Here's the list:
    Caramelized Onion Tartlets
    Savory Zucchini Squares
    Chicken Tandoori w/ Tzatziki Sauce
Assorted Cheese Display (served with flatbreads)
Polenta topped with Goat Cheese & Flat Iron Steak
Display of Fresh Seasonal Fruits & Berries
    Herb Roasted Seasonal Vegetables
Crispy Pork Dumplings with Ginger Scallion Sauce
Angus Beef Sliders with Cheese & Red Onion Aioli

** MacPanda - LOVE LOVE LOVE the nacho station!

But why wouldn't you serve ice cream with the cake?
