Cake people???

Who are you guys using for cakes?  We were planning on using Mike's Amazing Cakes, but we have had some people tell us that they are dry cakes, and at the cake tasting the chocolate tasted like coffee.

Please let me know!

Kelli Morse!  Her cake is amazing, and on top of that, she's just a really sweet person.  She even had a "knottie appreciation week" for us!  And, if you refer people, she discounts delivery.  Check her out:

And if you decide to book her, let us know!  We have some knotties that would love to refer you.Wink

My MOH used Mike's for her wedding a few years ago and they couldn't get her color right even though she called them a week before and confirmed everything.  I've heard they're hit or miss.  I second Kelli - yummy cake, and really sweet person!  If you're trying to get a very detailed/specialized sculpted cake another option is JW Desserts who also does delicious cake and actually used to co-own Mike's Amazing Cakes before it was just Mike.

We're using Madison Park Bakery.  They're a small bakery that's been around forever! We always would go get birthday cakes from them so we know their stuff is great!  Mmmmmm...cake sounds good right now!

I'm using myself and Costco! We will have our own personal cake....but we are doing everything we can to keep it as cheap as we can. We have a HUGE guest list (thanks to giant families) so we'll serve the Costco sheet cake ( I love their cakes & cake prices) :D

We haven't really looked into cakes yet (together -- I've done some scouting on my own), and it really depends on where our wedding ends up being. If it 's far out in a semi-destination style, we'll probably just go with on location cake at the venue cause transportation is too much of a hassle.

But we are going to a cake tasting this weekend at Creme de la Creme cause I absolutely loved their cake at the wedding show and want FI to try and see. Worst case scenario, I'll go get my birthday cake this year (it'll be my 30th!) from them. :) FWIW, my top choices are Creme de la Creme, Madison Park Bakery, and Celebrity Cake Studio though.

I'm using JW Desserts. He has pricing practically as good as Kelly's but I preferred his cake (contrary to most Knotties on here). Someone else who is not on the usual suspects' list around here is Madeleine's European Desserts who also had really great pricing. We were going to book her but took too long and she was already booked.

I've heard Mike's cakes look good, but aren't that tasty. We are using Celebrity Cake Studio in Tacoma. They  have really good reviews, the samples at our tasting were really good, and they have good prices!

I haven't personally used her, but in my 2 years on this board I've seen consistently great reviews for Kelli Morse. HTH!

We are using Kingsley's Dimensional Desserts! Her cakes taste AMAZING! My favorite was the dreamcisle one and the coconut one! Plus you can't beat her prices (unless you go to like Safeway or something) but she is so wonderful and sweet! Check her out:

I used Bakery Nouveau.  It was the yummiest cake ever!  Of course, everything they have is soooo good.  Oohh...now I want a twice baked almond croissant, darn!

Oh, if you want to go the cupcake route, I highly recommend Yellow Leaf Cupcakes.  I think they're the best in the city.  Plus they have tons of unique flavor combinations.

I fifth Kelli Morse!... I used Kinsley for our groom's cake. Hers is good, but I like Kelli's cake better.

I will say that Creme de la Creme's praline crunch filling is to die over. (Unfortunately for us so was the pricing as we poo' )

I'm an odd one out...I didn't care for Kelli's cake at the wedding show at all. I did also think that Mike's cake was dry, and I've heard that about his cakes before.

I'm pretty sure we're going with Creme de la Creme. Their cakes are really moist and delicious - which is most important to me - while still being beautiful. Another I liked at the wedding show was The Last Bite, which is in Tacoma. Her cake was pretty amazing, it's just a little pricey.

We used Mike's Amazing Cakes and everyone said it was good. We loved it. They did an amazing job on the cake and everything was perfect. We wanted a slurpee cake and we got one.
