I decided to do my own makeup, and after researching online, bought a bunch of products and experimented. Here are my reviews:
Smashbox Primer: First of all, I had never even heard of such a thing. But everything I read said this was the stuff to keep your makeup in place. For me, it didn't work with my foundation, which is powder based. (Clinique) It make my face look cakey/made-up. I ditched it/returned it, and will just go with my normal daily face: lotion followed by my regular Clinique foundation.
Clinique Eyelash primer: The BOMB! Made the mascara go on like a dream and lengthened and primed my lashes.
Diorshow Waterproof Mascara: The BOMB! The huge brush takes a little getting used to, but I honestly never thought my lashes could look so long, lush and fabulous, and most importantly...waterproof.
Makeup For Ever waterproof eyeliner: Fabulous. No smudging, smearing or running.
Benefit Benetint lip stain: I tried this because I loved the idea of having kissable colorful lips all day without worrying about constantly reapplying. It's a novel idea that did not work for me. My lips had color, but it was flat and lifeless. I added a little gloss, but still when the gloss came off, not impressed. My lips looked sunburned more than nicely "lipsticked". Returned it and going with the reapply more often method.
