need some help please (FI's attire)

This is what I get for not having colors for the wedding. I am wearing a sage green lengha for the reception (similar to DCbride's). It has a bit of gold and silver in it. [img]http://tinyurl.com/yhmyrue[/img] FI is wearing a cream suit for the reception. What color shirt and tie would look good? I don't want to be too highschool promish and have him match the green in my outfit. I def. want a shirt with a printed tie (I am not a fan of solid color ties). FI went out and got something-I didn't know how to tell him that I hated it...it looked like something an 80 year old man would wear...so I thought I would get something and persuade him it would look better

I'm not able to see the picture...not sure if anyone else can. What did he pick out that was so bad?  If you're wearing green and he has a cream suit, I also wouldn't go with something super matchy-matchy.  How about a complimentary color like yellow or orange.Or something red and orange like this - http://blog.geoffwhite.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/08/groom-20white-20suit.jpg

I can't see the photo either, but if your outfit has a bit of silver in it, how about a grey?  There are a lot of gray, patterned ties out there as well so that shouldn't be too hard to find.  I'm not sure if it would go with the suit color but its worth a try. Or he could do a white or cream shirt with a gray patterned tie.  It's not too matchy matchy but it also won't compete with your colors.

I always think a dark purple looks pretty with sage green. Brown might also look nice. GL
