July 2012 Weddings

Stressed over my timeline...

After reading other posts on timelines, I'm getting pretty freaked out mine is going to be a disaster...

Basically, we picked our reception place 1st-the venue we chose offers either 12-5 or 6:30-12. So, we went with the afternoon hours due to family who have young kids and also who have to drive. However, we are also getting married in a Church and they will only do 11am because they reserve earlier for funerals (we are having a ceremony not mass, and church is 5 minutes from reception). I am having my hair done, not sure if all my BMs are getting their hair done, but the stylist is a friend and said she could come as early as 5am if needed. Hoping NOT! Not having a make up pro. I also reserved the photographer for 6 hours and he will do the groom's pics before the wedding, not of us girls, so that gets some pictures out of the way. Because the wedding is in July and cocktail hour is at noon, there is no way we will be able to do more than 1/2 hour or so of pictures outside (not just cuz it'll be hot, but position of sun will make pictures less than ideal). I am hoping to get most done at the Church anyway.

Anyway, I guess what I am freaked about is there is NO leeway for any thing to go astray. I am keeping things extremely simple. I gave the photograoger a list of "must get pictures" and I am not going to lengths to get silly/crazy pictures. Hopefully that helps time wise.

My real question here is: am I deusional in thinking this could work or is it possible??? My cousin had the same time frame and all went so smoothly! Or so I thought...

Re: Stressed over my timeline...

  • I think you're perfectly fine time-wise, there's not much you can do about in now anyway so there's no point in stressing about it. Easier said than done though I'm sure.

If you're willing to do a first-look you could start pictures outside at 10ish so you can still get outdoor pictures. It depends on how important outdoor pictures are to you. If you decide to do that I would probably get up at 6 and plan to start hair and make-up at 7. If not, then I'd get up by 7, start hair and make-up by 8.

  • I really don't want to do a 1st look...

I'm sure when all is said and done, everything will work out. And you are 100% right, no reason to stress over what I cannot undo! I guess what I should've asked was for advice on how to make things run smooth or recommendations on what to cram in or not try to cram in.

  • you could always do some pictures in a different area after the reception ends.  You'll still have plenty of daylight and you'll get some pretty sunset pictures too!

Ooh this is a great idea!
  • ohhhh I like littlemoments idea!! go with that!!

But as others have said, don't stress. I think you are fine timewise.  We aren't doing a first look either - if you don't want to do one, don't!! The photos will work themselves out, even if they are after your reception.
  • I think you are fin tmewise.  It is okay if things go astray, things will happen and you'll just have to go with it, no time to freak out!  Maybe adding 2 hours to the photographer will allow you to do pictures after the reception if you want and get some awesome evening shots.
