New traditions

Are you and your hubby to be or husband starting new traditions? I love when couples start something of their own to carry on to their children, to add onto the traditions we already have.

I can't think of any, but I like the idea of this. I think over time we will find our "groove" and a certain way we like to do things or celebrate things in a certain way. I'll have to keep this idea in the back of my head for now...

Ya I agree...developing your own traditions with your husband are important for your new family...esp to pass along to your children...it helps to develop memories too

Since me and my FI are both photographers, out tradition is taking a family photo each year around the Holidays.

We as a people (south asians) do not do this. At least the thousands of people that I know, none go to a studio for family photos. We all get our family photos at somebody's Sweet 16.

I had my uncle pass away and since then I decided we need to take family photos each year properly. It is so important to me to be able to show my family to my kids, and tell them about who we are.

Also, after each session I make a small album, and send it out to all the family members. When I say family, I don't mean nuclear, I mean all of my uncles, aunts, cousins, everyone gets involved in this tradition.

These days, very rarely do we ever even print photos, everything is on the computer. I cannot stand that, so many people have computers crash and their photos gone. Our tradition will allow my family to be preserved in albums for a very long time.

At your next get together, take some photos or have your photographer do some nice shots for you. Print some nice albums and put together an album yourself, it is very inexpensive and rewarding.
