Bridal wear online?

Hi everyone!  I just got engaged and am completely new to this site.  Have any of you desi brides bought your bridal sari/lehenga online?  Everyone I know goes all the way to India.  There are some nice lehengas I've seen online, but none of them accept returns.  I am weary about spending several thousands of dollars only to be stuck if I'm dissatisfied.  Any suggestions?

    Hi Ninac4116

    Congrats on your engagement!

I personally didn't buy anything online... However, I also wanted to buy something that was already created (rather then having it completely customized).

Maybe you could make a weekend trip to NJ or even Toronto (I know very far from Florida but not as far as India!) ....you may find something you reallly like.

    Happy Planning!

Congrats on your engagement! And welcome to the boards :)

I agree with MrsBM, ordering online is tricky. I have heard some not so good reviews, but then I have heard some great reviews as well. Do you have any time to travel to NY/NJ? Or even Toronto like MrsBM said; you might have better luck with bigger cities. Or even just start near you and go from there?

    Congratulations on your engagement :)

I went to a store in California called Sona Chaandi (closer to Anaheim / Disneyland) to get a customized outfit.  I shared your same woes in that if I did order something online, how do I know it would fit me properly, or would I get the same quality of what I saw in the picture!

There are a few places in Florida - call them up, see if they would have what you are looking for first before driving there!

I have a lot of family in Florida, I'll check around and see where they shop, there have been a lot of indian weddings in Florida over the past two years, and I believe the brides all got their outfits locally! :)

Also, I do agree, if you can't find anything still, then a trip might be warranted, either up north to New York / Toronto Canada area, or even West to Dallas, there are plenty of places :)

    Welcome to the boards!

I wouldn't risk it either. I think there is enough you can find in Florida for you not have to order from online. Just make sure you haggle and get the best deal out of them. I'm going to India too, but we have a lot of things to pick up there so it was worth the trip. Plus, I really miss my aunts, uncles and cousins... See them one last time as a single lady.

Ankitad, I'm trying to privately message you, but I'm new to the Knot and completely lost.  I'd love to see the lehengas you're selling.
