ceremony musicians

Hello - I was wondering what you're doing for your ceremony music? I am interested in getting some musicians who play Indian instruments. When I asked for a sitar player, I was told that it was uncommon for a sitar player to play during the ceremony. I'm confused. What Indian instruments should I be seeking out? Or is music typically played through the DJ.

Thanks!!!
Sonia

We didn't have a sitar player during the wedding, but we did have a harmonium player and a tabla player, and a few other kirtan instruments.    I've been to several weddings where a DJ played the indian music at the appropriate times as well.

We also had the DJ play the music for the entrances for the ceremony...

    Our music choices were:

Groom and Groomsmen - "Guzarish" from Ghajini
Bridesmaids, ring boy, flower girl - "Jashn E Bahara" from Jodha Akbar
Bride with parents - "Tera Chera" by Adnam Sami
