Dulhan Expo, center pieces, and colors

Hi everyone-

I have several questions ..

1. Have any of you gone to the Dulhan Expo? Is it worth going to?
2. any ideas on center pieces without flowers..
3. Finally, is it customary to base the reception colors on the bride's outfit?

Thanks!

    1) I've been to an Asian Rishtaa Bridal Expo... It's definitely worth going- especially to see vendors, in one building, discounts etc.

    2) With Glass, Candles, Branches, and Sparklies... You can find a lot of ideas here: http://www.save-on-crafts.com/

Also, if you choose your centerpiece to be mini-wedding cakes, or lanterns, those are definitely a hoot!

    or peacock feathers!

    3) It's not customary that the bride's dress have to match the reception theme colors... I wore peacock blue/gold while the theme was red/gold...

    Hi Patiln1978

I've been to a few Indian bridal shows in Toronto and I personally didn't find that they were helpful for selecting vendors (except for my dress designer...I saw her dresses at the show and fell in love lol). It's usually too busy and hubby and I were more interested in researching a vendor’s work on our own time and also talking to the vendor’s previous clients before making our decisions.

But from the sounds of it, it just seems like the Toronto shows are too busy to actually get a good flavour of the vendors.... the ones in the US seem more helpful.

As for getting ideas....I got most of my ideas from the magazines that are produced from the Indian bridals shows (Kismet and Suhaag).
Also like the ladies above, I don't think you need to match your decor to your dress. I didn't want to...I thought complimenting colours would be more pleasing to the eye…

My dress had purple, blue and pink in it with silver work and swarovski crystals...and my decor had black, white, silver/bling and different hues of purple...so it didn't match but it brought everything together...my hubby wore a tux with a silver vest, silver pocket square, silver tie...so he didn't even match with me completely...but we both fit in well with the décor
    J

    Hope that helps !!
