Preference: Outfit Choice

Lehnga, Sari, Ghagra, Dress or something else?

Modern or traditional?

Red or another color?

Lenghas with corsets and more westernized silhouettes/cuts of the dress :)

I wanted corsets to keep my mid section looking slimmer in the pictures LOL!!

Yeah, I'd like something sleek and sophisticated for the reception. No neon colors. Something gorgoeus and timeless and of course, sexy. A lehnga to dance in. No sari for the reception for me.

Unsure for the wedding, but nothing bright red anywhere in the sari. And I very often see brides and grooms try to match reds in outfits and one wears maroon and the other red. Not happening for us. I'm sure he'll go for something cream / gold / white instead.

I am the one that went with "other"

For the ceremony, we're both doing traditional outfits. I will have a sari/panetar that is ivory with maroon bandhani border and embroidery. His sherwani is offwhite with simple border on the cuffs and neckline.

Then for the reception, we're going "western". I will have a simple wedding dress and he will have a suit. We'll probably have his tie match one of our wedding colors.

And when I think neon I think like super crazy hot pink, neon green or orange...whoa!

Wow! All of your outfits sound really wonderful! It's nice to see variety, and maybe that's what makes Indian culture so rich and always changing!

I did two ghagra cholis / lengha with A-Line for that slimming characteristic for wedding and reception.  Since both were custom outfits, for the wedding, I wanted something red, but with lots of work.  They even threw in an extra dupatta.  So I was in red, and DH was in maroon.  We didn't bother matching, it didn't matter, and that was a worry not worrying about.

For the reception, another lehnga, gold and well I was shooting for peacock blue -

KP - did you husband wear socks during your ceremony? I noticed that in your picture you posted. Interesting. My FI dislikes being barefoot, but he has done it for when we went to the temple and during our engagement puja. I am wondering if I should let him do socks, but I really like the way bare feet look when they take the detail pictures when doing the pheras or the saptapadi...

Yeah for the wedding he wore shoes actually, but gave his sister his shoes for safe keeping heheh (else it would have gotten stolen),  it was his preference, at least he showed up, and was dressed hehe, I couldn't get everything.  I like the barefoot look too, but then again, he thinks his feet are ugly. LOL
