Wedding ideas for a safari themed wedding.

Hello, I live in California but I was born  in Nairobi, Kenya. My ethnicity is Indian so I am having a Hindu wedding.

The wedding will be outdoors near a pool and a garden. I need ideas for the Mandap ( the area where the wedding takes place), centerpieces and tent decor, and the pool area.

So far, I thought about having beaded male and female maasai candle holders as my centerpieces...The chair shashes will be in animal print, the tent decor will have african colored fabric and the mandap will be made in the shape of an African Gazebo.

I want other ideas to see if there is something better. Thanks!

Welcome to the boards, and congratulations on your engagement -

I agree with Bells, in that your theme should be subtle, and not overpowering, and at the same time, not tacky... here we go :)

Elephants in both cultures hold significant meaning, and maybe there's a way to incorporate the elephant into your designs, favors, cake, etc.

How about your fiance instead of riding in on a horse, rides in on an elephant? (Check with your city laws though, it may not be permitted)

I agree on a cake that has zebra stripes, with flowers -

For the groomsmen, or for the reception suit,

A wedding at a zoo, with an animal theme - http://mytenthousandwedding.blogspot.com/2009/09/why-follow-herd.html

For your reception, if you aren't having one inside, make it amongst the trees,

An elephant favor / tea light -

    Hope that helps!
