Makeup Question

Random question:

Are you ladies having your makeup redone for the reception or just having it done once, in the morning, prior to ceremony and then just coasting through the day with touch ups, etc?

I am not a big makeup person to begin with, but I am concerned that after the "rigors" of the Hindu ceremony my makeup will look like a hot mess and I don't want that for the reception...

What are you ladies doing?

I'm undecided on bothering with makeup at all. I don't wear it in my every day life, so if I bother with it, there won't be much. Maybe just some powder to keep the shine away and a ltitle eyeliner, which will probably need touchups now and then.

I am only having makeup/hair done professionally before the ceremonies and then doing touch ups myself (with help from MOH) before the reception. I am also not a big makeup person, but it is unreal how much hair & makeup costs to have it done again that evening.

I didn't think about the kumkum that will be put on my forehead during the Hindu ceremony...I don't know if people usually leave it on for the reception? We're having the Jewish ceremony half an hour after the Hindu one.

Ok so I am not the only one that is thinking of getting it done once and then touching up as needed as the day goes...

Kavita, the kumkum was exactly was I was thinking of! Maybe the priest will go light with it since I am sure it's not the first time they have come across it...I will ask my sister-in-law how it went for her (although that was almost 10 years ago now!) since I know she didn't get her makeup redone for the reception.

Any other ladies out there who can share?

I feel the same way, I am concerned that my foundation will start wearing off and I know any lipstick will wear off after eating. I think when I change from my dress to sari I will re-do make up then but not professionally, just some finishing powder.

One of the things I was thinking of was have my hair down and curly for the ceremony and then an up-do for the reception but I think that might take to long. But yeah have some powder on hand or have a touch up kit with your mom or bridesmaid to avoid any shiny foreheads or shine as well as lip touch ups.

If you want a lipstick that doesn't go away, I highly recommend Max Factor Lipfinity. Does NOT come off. I wore it all day once, and it didn't budge. The only way I could get it off was to use a makeup removing wipe (Olay Mascara & Make Up Remover is my favorite). I even used LipFinity in lieu of face paint for a costume for FI, and we had to scrub his face three times to get most of it off. There were still traces the next day.

I am doing two different eye makeup looks to go with each outfit so I will be getting makeup done for morning and separately for reception by same makeup artist ofcourse. Foundation and lipstick will remain same colors, just eye makeup will change from ceremony to reception, she will touch up my lipstick and foundation for reception and I know between the crying after the ceremony (parting from fam) and the running around for getting ready for reception I will def. need a touch up! Also, I will having a updo for morning and having hair down for evening reception

I'm also doing two make up looks.  The make up artist that I got suggested it.
    It's very expensive.

The two looks thing is also not really in my budget either, so it looks like I will have to coast through the day with touch ups here and there. Plus, time is always a factor, too!

</div><div>What about doing a lighter look for the ceremony, and then darkening it up for the reception (ie. more kajal and bolder lips)?  That would be a really easy fix that you could do yourself. Just an idea....</div>

hey how about buying a really good foundation in matt finish for the non oil-slick look, and powder that suits your complexion, along with a few other touch up essentials like lipstick and kajal by yourself- and hav your beautician use those products while doing your makeup, esp th foundation so if yu need to do some touch-ups later (which you will because foundation clogs the pores which in protest produce tank-fulls of oil!!) that way yu won't have a different color foundation mark wher yu touch-up. also ask your beautician to teach you a few touch-up tricks that wont spoil the rest of the makeup.
but DO use the makeup yure gonna wear on yr wedding day atleast once before! so yu know exactly how long it can stay without melting off or sweating off your face.
a good compact, lipstick and kajal/mascara are your best friends and shud stay in your clutch. try and find some oil blotters. theyre great!!

Yeah I think I will get the foundation that will be used for the day of before hand so I can see how my skin reacts/works with it.

I thought about the MAC counter too - they always do a good job! (except that FI thinks then I have too much on, but that's only because I wear powder and macara for everyday!)

Thanks again ladies, you gals are awesome!

I am thinking it will be two different sets of make up and hair. I want to look different at each thing.

if yu dont want to "have too much on" then maybe yu shud go fr a bold eye liner and lash extensions with light eye shadow. this looks great in photos!!
ive bought some fake eye lashes and m practicing different styles of wearing it. yu wont believe how much difference just one teeny tiny change cn bring to yr face!! after wearing them straight out of the pack a couple of times (to get used to th idea of having super long thick lashes n how i look in them) i trimmed them a little (vertically, so all the hairs are not the same length) to make them look more natural and re-shaped with a mascara wand  and curlers. now thy look fab n dont yell out fake!
yu cn easily change yr entire look by yrself with this. wear some cute coral lipstick and blush during th ceremony for a simple look and lighten the lips at reception and put on some grey eyeshadow blending with yr eyeliner n extending upwards and outwards, highlight the browbone for a dramatic look. i like LORAC'S ON SCREEN DUO in FAME AND FORTUNE (black) its an eyeliner/shadow combo and the results are great!!
