NWR: Books by Indian Authors

Hi!

This summer I am reading books written by Indian or South Asian authors, particularly, novels.

Do you guys have any suggestions? I have read everything Jhumpa Lahiri has written as well as some Arundhati Roy.

Let me know what you love, it's kind of my summer reading list theme, if you will.

I have two that are pretty easy summer reading material.

Girl Most Likely To by Poonam Sharma is about an Indian career woman approaching 30 whose parents are pushing  marriage and settling down and her dealing with the stresses of dating, working, and life in general.

Blue Boy by Rakesh Satyal is a coming-of-age novel about a young Indian boy, American born only child of Indian immigrants. FI read andenjoyed this one and said he could identify with the main character in many repects (himself being  the American born first child of Indian immigrants).

There is also The White Tiger by Arvind Adiga

And I started to read Inheritance of Loss by Kiran Desai a while ago, but now that I have a nook, I haven't gone back to my old paperbacks!

If you are looking for novels,

Salman Rushdie has a couple of good ones.
V.S. Naipaul is not an Indian author, but he has novels that are connected to India.
    Amitav Ghosh

    I love Arundhati Roy's work.
I really, really enjoyed "Autobiography of a Yogi"  and everything else by Paramhansa Yogananda.

If you are interested, there are some books by Sri Daya Mata (also from SRF) that are really good spiritual works, for everyday living!
