Wedding color scheme

Hi girls!  What color scheme are you using (or did you use) for your wedding?  Should the color of your reception outfit match the color scheme of the reception decor?

Thanks in advance! :)

I like some contrast in photos.  I didn't plan our Indian wedding, so it was just luck really that it worked.  The decor was in the saffron/terracotta family and I wore dark fuschia.  For our US wedding, my dress was a golden champagne color, and the decor was mostly royal blue.  In both cases, the photos look nice,  contrasting but not clashing.  At one of our functions in India the room was dark orange with mahogany and I wore a dark red and gold sari.  The photos aren't great because the people don't stand out and the background is too bright and busy.

In American weddings usually there's a lot of white, which makes the bride is less visible during the reception.  I'd keep the same idea in mind for an Indian wedding because you want a lot of color but you don't want to be lost against the background in the photos.  For example, if your outfit is dark red with gold, I'd try to pick a color that goes with the red but is quite different.  For example, you could do a cream and gold scheme, and if you really wanted red, just have light accents of it.  If your outfit is mostly gold, you could do royal or peacock blue, or purples, or reds.

I agree. I am doing Lavendar and Blue. For the ceremony I'm wearing a white dress and for the reception I'm changing into my mandragodi which is a plum color. The plum obviously doesn't go with anything, but it was the color which looked the best on me and it is kind of in the purple family. There are pictures in the Bio.

my colors are a bright blue and dark orange.  my bridesmaids are wearing blue lengha saris and each will carry bright orange roses.  the colors look indian to me and also fall like- best of both worlds!

For our reception we did different shades of purple, silver (bling), and black.

    I wore a pinky, purply-bluish lengha....so I didn't match but contrasted with the decor

    I contrasted too...

Decor for the wedding and reception was gold and burgundy... for the wedding I wore red, and for the reception I wore gold and turquoise

Thanks ladies!  I'm going shopping for bridal dresses this weekend so was curious as to how much the dress has to match the color scheme.

Our ceremony is going to be red and gold. My sari will be red with a peacock border and gold accents.

Our reception colors are red, peacock and gold and I'm wearing a turquoise lengha with gold and pink embellishments.

Basically, I kinda match.... in terms of the peacock and turquoise, but I think it'll be ok.
