We had double happiness candles, which are probably not something you want LOL!

They're in my bio towards the bottom of the DIY page:
    http://tamberlaine.weebly.com/diy.html

I bought them from this site:
    http://www.asianideas.com/weddingfavors.html

It also has some less specifically East Asian stuff... I had actually wanted to go with something about butterflies, because DH is Bengali and the butterfly is a traditional Bengali wedding motif.  DH felt they weren't manly enough LOL.

Edibles are always a safe choice, although it can end up being way more expensive.  And honestly I wouldn't personally care if I went to a wedding and there weren't favors.

We had a candy buffet  and while it was popular, we have A LOT of left over candy. I mostly blame our venue since we left the bags for our guests at the tables/place setting with their menus. When they cleared away the salad plates, they took the menus and the bags with them, so people didn't really have anything to fill their candy in.

So lesson learned, if you do a candy buffet, maybe just leave a note on the place setting that a candy buffet is set up.  This way people who are looking for a favor know that there is one, but it's just not at their seat like they are used to and keep the bags by the buffet itself.

I would like wedding favors, but only if I can get them for about $1/each.  I was thinking shot glasses.  Candles would also be nice.

We did a tin box with mints in them...they were tied with a ribbon with a smal label with our picture on it ...saying thank you for sharing in our special day...

It costed us about $1.65 CAD

I wanted to do mints b/c after all the indian foods, drinks, dessert etc...a mint is a nice way to end off the night lol....oh and the box is reusable... :)

Here are some I thought of but then decided to do something completely different...

those little boxes from India with mirrors on them, I think you can put small earrings in them and stuff, mini brownie burgers (I love brownies and I used to love McDonalds Happy Meals as a kid so I thought mini happy meals with cookie fries and brownie burgers with vanilla wafers as bread would be cute), a small hand mirror with indian decoration around it.

I've read around most people prefer edibles so I decided to go with that

    <div>Personally, I think cakes and favors are a waste of money =) I can't think of one favor I've kept/used from a wedding!</div><div>
</div><div>We are going to donate to an organization supporting education and print on the menu cards at each place setting 'A donation has been made in your name by the couple..." etc. honestly, I don't think people miss the favors at all, especially when you are supporting a good cause and spending the left over money on better food!</div><div>

We're going to tie little groups of bangles with ribbon and the put out a basket next to the name cards inviting guests to take them.  I don't think the men will mind being left out and this way women can pick ones that are the color/size they want.
