Mehendi outfit with INK STAINS!!!

I am soooo upset.  First of all, I had the day of hell at work today.  I left work in tears based on a lot of things that happened that I won't even get into right now.  Then I went to my usual tailors (have been going there for a long time and thought I totally trusted them) where I had dropped of my Mehendi outfit for minor alterations.  I pick it up and there are PURPLE INK STAINS ALL OVER IT!!!  I lost it- our wedding is in a week and this is a brand new outfit, never worn and they ruined it.  The worst part was that they denied it and said that those stains were there when I dropped it off....I was sooooo furious and def said some things that I should not have...AND THEN THEY TRIED TO CHARGE ME FOR IT!!!!! Omg, i was so mad....Luckily FI came when I was crying my eyes out at the store and tried to make the situation better...So I will be taking it to a dry cleaner I guess who can attempt to take the stains out?? Don't know what to do :(

oh gosh!!! This is awful!!! how the hell did they manage to do that?!?!!!
Keep hope that the other dry cleaner can remove the stains. In the meantime, can you figure out a backup outfit for your mehendi? Was your original outfit a one or two piece? Can you swap out a different sari blouse or lehenga blouse that you already have if only one piece is stained? Good LUCK! You will look gorgeous no matter what I'm sure!

Yikes, i am sorry to hear that happened. Hopefully the other cleaners can get it out for you. Do you have a backup outfit or another choice?

I agree with Neetu that you will look beautiful regardless of what you're wearing - people will be focused on you and not your outfit :)

Also, if the ink stains are on the back and not in prominent locations people may not even notice! They'll be too focused on your hair, makup and general bridal beauty :)

So sorry this happened--I hope it works out for you.

Sweetie, don't let this mishap ruin your day. If they can't fix it, get together some girlfriends  and pick up a new outfit. Try to ask around and see if any Aunties have any solutions. I'm sorry!

That is terrible!  Actually one of my huge wedding worries was that I would get something on my white dress!  At least with Indian clothes it shoud be less bad.

Your friends and family will not et you be without an outfit.  If they can't fix that one, someone will lend you something.  And everyone is right that YOU and not your outfit are the main attraction!  Things will go wrong during the wedding process (mine sure did)... but try not to dwell upon them too much... you don't want to get sick from stress or look unhappy in your photos Smile

Thank you for all the support!  I took the outfit to a super nice dry cleaner yesterday and they were able to get the stains out...It cost close to $200 but whatever, at least it's taken care of and looks perfect now!  Thanks for the all advice!  I'm off to RI today to prepare for the wedding and our festivities start this Thursday!  Thank you everyone for being so helpful during the whole wedding process!  I'll post reviews when I get back!

That is really crappy about the first drycleaner! But awesome the second got all the stains out. I do have a question, is it typical to wear a special outfit for Mehendi? I went to Chennai, India last week for a beautiful Hindu wedding (my first trip to India!!) and got beautiful mehendi on my hands.  The bride was very casual for her mehendi. When it started to come off that stuff was everywhere! And it was my first time wearing a salwar. I thought I did alright :)

    And here's a couple of the bride's

I'd love to see yours, I'm pretty fascinated by the beautiful designs.

Rachel -- I think the mehndi is slightly different in India.  I got married there, and the functions were a lot more casual than Indian weddings in the US.  No one dressed up for our mehndi, and it was just girls sitting for many hours while they did our mehndi.  It did go everywhere, and I wore capri pants and a t-shirt so they could easily do my arms and legs without ruining any clothes.  Even for one of the poojas I just wore a casual silwar.  People in the US seem to dress up a lot more.

Yes, people in the states DO dress up much more! And in London, as well.

Super happy to hear it all worked out! See! Now enjoy yourself.
