Anyone have the Kitchenaid ice cream attachment?

I just used it for the first time! While I liked the recipe I used, it didn't harden as much as it was supposed to (doing well in the freezer now though). Any tips? I definitely chilled the bowl long enough (it says 15 hours, mine was in there at least 24 hours and I made sure my freezer was on the coldest setting). I'm thinking I needed to chill the actual mixture longer? The recipe only called for 2-3 hours, but some reviews I read said to do at least 8 hours or overnight.

Also, do you keep the dasher in the freezer, too? I read a review that recommended that.

I've been reading reviews/posts. Llots of users are getting a good product, so I think your friend and I are the problem! =)

Some people are saying that some freezers don't get cold enough...that may be the case since I live in an apartment and don't exactly have a high-end fridge, haha. I have a few ideas for the next batch, I will report back!

We have one (love it!). You definitely need to leave the ice cream in the freezer for at least 4 hours after you  make it to get it harder. Freezer temp also plays a roll (we're in apartment as well). Our gelato attempts haven't turned out well but we're about ready to try again!
