Photography Dilmena

Hi! I haven't really uploaded much in my bio, but the situation is as follows...

My soon to be fiance and I live in two different places. He is in London and I'm in the Midwestern US. We plan to have one big event, such as our wedding ceremony in one place and the reception in another.

Apart from having such a tough time planning everything (which is why, since we know we'll get engaged in the next few months), we have a few questions that I thought I'd bring to the boards.

One is...what do we do about a photographer?

Has anyone on here flied a photographer out to a different location? Do you use two separate ones? Are your albums for your wedding and reception meant to be cohesive? I'm so confused as to what to do. We would do both events in one place but it's unfair to each of us and our families...we want to compromise. But, it's troublesome, and we're trying to tackle certain issues!

Any advice?

Thanks!!!

    Hi Sonali,

My fiancee is in Chicago and I am in philadelphia, fortunately I found a photographer there that fits my budget and will travel down to philly, and is amazing photographer. He ended up costing me the same as some ppl in philly. But yea its good to keep the same photographer, but clearly London is a stretch, I think you should let your fiancee find someone there. I think reception photography is very important to me, I would focus more on that, but depends on what you prefer. :)I know someone in Chicago thats excellent but I am not sure where you are located.

I agree with Bells. I wouldn't hesitate to get 2 different photographers. You could literally have the best of both worlds. ;)

Thank you all so much! I'm in Michigan!

I love Chicago! We were just there - he has never seen the US and we went to Chicago for a few days to relax around St. Patrick's Day...I think he was in love!

I think I will for sure to do that - go for 2 separate vendors. You are all right - flying out a photographer will become ridiculous in costs and we need to be smart about that.

I really appreciate all of your help!

I don't think its a bad idea to get two photographers. One in Detroit and one in London. You could also find a photographer locally who travels. I know our photographer (in Chicago) does just as many destiantion weddings as they do local weddings. I would only pick a local photographer to travel with you only if they have experience traveling with equipment.
