Congratulations on your engagement! And welcome to the boards -

I'm googling on your behalf -- It would be great to know how many guests are you looking to be at your wedding since venues have capacity limits.  Also, I found a lot of banquet halls that will accomodate your needs, but their decor probably doens't suit your tastes...

    - Link 1 - Indian Wedding Site - Florida venues for Indian weddings

    - Link 2 - This was shot at the Hitlon Miami ( you might want to check there for catering from Indian caterers)

    - Link 3 - I went to an Indian wedding here, where they brought in their own catering... The views were breathtaking :):)

awwww thanks so much for helping out!

We are looking at  100-150 people -

you are right in saying that banquet halls are not our style.

We thought maybe renting a home would be a good idea for pre wedding events because then we could maybe have the mendhi and sangeet there to save on costs.

I will check out the links that you send me ASAP.

    Thanks again!

    Hi BellaAY,
Some things to consider when renting a home for pre-wedding events -
    - noise ordanance with the rest of the neighborhood, if your crowd is super loud, what will the neighbors think?  Will they call the cops if the noise levels get too loud maybe on the weekdays?  (babies, and people going to work, and kids going to school etc)
    - if there are any damages to the home due to kids, or adults
    - where are your guests going to park?
    - is there a no parking on the street rule? What about HOA rules?

    Hope it all works out!!

Hey there!  I'm a South Florida Indian bride myself, and I have a few places I'd suggest.

There's the Koubek Mansion, for one, in Little Havana: http://www6.miami.edu/koubekmansion

There's also Villa Vizcaya (http://www.vizcayamuseum.org/rentals-facility.asp), Bonnet House (http://www.bonnethouse.org/bonnet_wedding_info.html), and Deering Estate (http://www.deeringestate.com/pages/WeddingCelebrations.aspx), all of which require outside catering.

I know Parkland Country Club and Mizner Country Club were willing to let me use an outside caterer, as well.

If you want, let me know your budget and where exactly you are looking, and I can offer some more tips, either here or via PM.

I'm using an amazing venue that is doing a custom Indian menu for me, and I'm happy to pass their name along as well.

I'm also an Indian bride-to-be living on South Beach.  I'm have been calling places left and right trying to find a nice venue that allows outside catering.  I am looking to have 200-300 guests.  I'd like something on South Beach/Miami Beach preferably, or Brickell.  I want to cater from Woodlands.  Any suggestions?

Also, anyone know any good place to buy Bridal Lehengas online that allow returns?  I don't want to have to travel all the way to India to buy a wedding dress.

See some of the suggestions above, they allow outside catering :)

Also, there are some places in Florida in other threads where you could look at what you are purchasing, because once alterations have been completed to outfits, online stores don't want to take it back, because it's custom fit to you!

I'm not interested in a Mansion.  Is the Hilton Miami really the only wedding venue that will allow outside caterers?  I find that hard to believe...  Plus I'd prefer something on South Beach or Brickell.  Not so much intersted in Downtown.
