Venue for small Hindu wedding in Manhattan?

I am Hindu and am marrying a Catholic man.  We found a Catholic church in Manhattan that is going to marry us  I found a Hindu temple with a great priest in Hicksville, LI.  We are trying to coordinate everything in one day, which is a challenge.  We are only going to have 20-30 people with us, but it is still challenging to get everyone to shuttle from Long Island to Manhattan.

Does anyone know of a venue in Manhattan where we can get do our Hindu ceremony?  Unfortunately, I haven't found a Hindu temple in Manhattan.  If there was a small venue where we could rent a mandap, that would be ideal.  Our priest is willing to travel from Long Island to perform our Hindu ceremony.  Anyone have any suggetsions?

Hi, I am hindu, while my fiance is catholic. We met with a priest who said we can not have a catholic ceromony and a hindu ceromony. Rather we could have a catholic wedding and a hindu "blessing." Do you know what this means and did you come across any issues/problems while planning your wedding? Thanks!

We encountered the same thing.  Some religions consider that you can only have one "wedding," and thus if you have a Catholic ceremony, you cannot then have a Hindu ceremony.  We had our Christian ceremony first (mostly just for logistical reasons).  The Hindu priest initially told my ILs that they were asking for a "fake wedding" and didn't want to do it.  However, it turned out he had a price at which he became agreeable.

Sometimes Christians also won't do a "wedding" but rather a "blessing of marriage" if you are already legally married.
