Decorate a swimming pool

My fancy mansion (AW pic below) has a swimming pool.  I'm thinking of doing something to tie it into the rest of the decor.  So far all I've seen are floating disco balls (it's a Vegas thing), or floating candles, or petals.  Personally I think floating candles are a bit small for a pool.

Any other ideas out there?  Ideally I'd like to somehow put our colors into it.  The pool needs to remain usable because in the event of fair weather, the reception will turn into a pool party.

how about like floating lights or something? I know I've seen light up beachy-ball things, then if it's a pool party... people can throw those around, too!

I think any pool floaty would work. They come in all types so it can fit your theme. We had a pool and for my 16th party we put a bouquet of balloons on a small floaty and just let it be. It look pretty neat.

You could also see if they can change the colors of the pool lights.

I like the idea about using beach-ball type things.

I would stay away from candles, especially since it will turn into a pool party afterwards. It would be a lot of work to take them out between the ceremony and reception. Basically I would use anything that is user-friendly and safe (so you don't have to worry if it does turn into a pool party).

$24 to decorate an entire pool sounds like bang for your buck!  Woo hoo!

But also, if it will be warm, perhaps we'll invest in a floating drink cooler.  It's just polite.

Cute idea! What about some balloons (air filled, not helium filled)? That might make for some fun if it turns into a pool party. I like the floating cooler idea.

AT one wedding, they had a spotlight on the pool with the bride and groom's monogram shimmering in the water.

haha, I love the idea of a floating drink cooler... the whole idea of having a pool party reception makes me smile.

I am having floating flowers.      I will have a large arrangement in an enclosed pot, then i have a ring (Life persevere) that the pot sits in. The flowers hang over the sides. so it looks like it is just floating. I  used fake flowers just in case they get wet the chlorine won't kill them.
