I hit the local pet store this weekend, and what might be the greatest dog leash I have EVER bought!
My dog and I walk regularily... trails, campgrounds, down the road, you name it... she's a German Shepherd/Weimaraner, 3 years old, around 80lbs. She was a shelter find 2 years ago and its taken me most of these 2 years to get her to the point where she really walks well and behaves herself.
I bought a nylon leash by a company called Hamilton Products, the style is a European Lead.
You wear it over one shoulder, so that if you want to let go of the leash, you still have your dog leashed properly. It can also be used as a basic leash in 3 different lengths, as a 2 dog lead, or as a portable tie out.
Took her out just now for a walk with it and I LOVE it! Anyone looking for a leash for longer distance dog walks, this is GREAT
You're hands free, so if you're on a long hike and want to drink water, or even reply to a text message, you don't have to hold on.

A bunch of different companies make them, in leather, nylon, etc, but the style is the same, so look for a 'European Lead', but the brand name of the one I got Hamilton Products I can recommend personally from use, the quality is great!
