favors? PIP

i was just wondering what you guys are doing for favors?

i wasn't going to do any, and (although i wouldn't DARE post this on the favor board for fear of my life) we were going to make a donation to the local animal shelter instead. FI and i have a menagerie of animals, and i'm a vet tech so i figured no-one could argue with that, our wedding is small and all family and close friends most of whom work in the business so i didn't think it would offend anyone.

anyway, because i lurked on the favor board and got scared now i am second guessing our decision. we're have a DW so i don't want to a) have to take a lot of favors up there with us and b) expect people to take anything back, but every wedding i have been to that have little candy type things nobody even touches them.

so here was my compromise that i found...they are these super cute truffles in a little box that have a ribbon saying "truffles for a cause" and inside there is a card that says " in honor of this special occasion a donation has been made to...". i thought this gives people something to actually have, plus us a cute way to tell people about the donation too.

what do you guys think?

I like the truffle and donation idea. That way people can't get picky about it, though I don't know why people do, most wedding favors aren't worth taking, lol.

I voted for just the donation, but I find the truffle and donation box really cool! I voted for just donation because as a guest, I really don't care about favors all that much. But great idea!

Do whatever you can afford, I've read many places that if you're having trouble paying for your wedding favors is the first thing to forget about.

I bought music note keychains, I did a lot of searching to find them at a good price and ended up finding them for 75 cents each, and they're already packaged in a box with cute ribbon, all I had to so was remove them from the plastic sleeves, so that was awesome!

I didnt give a crap about favors for my weddng, but my mom almost flipped her lid when I told her so. She insisted people only go to weddings for the favors, so I dumped that responsibility onto her. She ended up ordering personalized shot glasses with our names and the date, in our colors. They were nice, but I'm not sure how many people still use shotglasses??

Anyway, I voted for Love them. I love the donation aspect, since H and I are softies for animals too.

I am a MOB and my daughter and i have been trying to figure out what to do. So we may be copying your idea!! I also looked on the favor board and I understand why you wouldn't post it there!!! Have you seen the moms and maids board? They take no prisoners there!

I love that Idea.. we are going to do votives with a little card that reads "bringing light to curing cancer" or something along those lines because we just found out my dad has cancer.
