How do you...

Go about finding a minister for a wedding? I'm Catholic so I only know Fathers, but we're not getting married @ the church, so I need just a regular minister or a Father to do a non-church, bishop blessed ceremony (bishop has already blessed my site) ....how do you find a person to wed you!?? :\

Re: How do you...

  • Hmmm, my only suggestions (having no idea about Catholicism) is to ask your venue or your local board. We got a list of clergy from our venue.

I would do what Uneek suggested. Or google for ones in your area.

This is one thing me and FI haven't figured out, and I am not looking forward to it. We are planning on being handfasted and not many, if any at all, religious overtones in our ceremony. FI is pagan, so maybe something related to that, but that be it. Good luck on your search.

Edit: I'm not sure how long you had it up, but I love how you have that line about the companion cube over your ticker.

  • You could check your state laws and have a friend get ordained online.

If you are practicing Catholic you could always as at your parish.
  • I used the site gatheringguide.com to find mine. I just looked at everyones reviews and he seemed like the most promising, and it turned out that he was perfect for us!
  • Thanks guys! I'm soooo dreagging my feet on tihis :-\
  • There's often youtube clips of ceremonies performed by certain ministers/officiants.  The Vegas board uses youtube frequently to check on officiants provided for weddings at hotel/casinos.  So when you find someone you're interested in, see if there are any ceremonies on youtube that they've performed.  That should give you a much better idea of what they are like.

  • do you know any other pastors or ministers from other area churches? Most will do non-denominational weddings. You might have to do some premartial counceling though.
  • I lucked out because my dad has two uncles and four cousins who are ministers.  I just asked the cousin I'm closest to if he would marry us.

  • I went online to the services, and it was under events as wedding officiants.  You could also contact the chamber of commerce in the area you are getting married in.
