A resident home wedding!

I am planning the wedding for two residents at a retirement home that my mom works at. The bride is like an aunt to me, and she is letting me plan her wedding.

We'll be having the wedding at the home, with their family and the residents as guests. She's an old hippie, so I want to incorporate that into the wedding. She will be scootering down the aisle instead of walking, and he will probably be sitting, too. She has MS and he has COPD, so I will be working around their slight immobility.

Does anyone have any ideas to make this awesome?

(p.s.- her first wedding was just with the JP at the courthouse, so I want this to be special!)

Are you imagining a "hippie themed wedding" or one with just a few hippie touches?  There's a lot you can do with music and decor either way.  I'm guessing you will be dressing up the venue a lot.   Is it inside (like a rec room) or outdoors?

One thing I like for a wedding alter is using strips of cloth hanging off an arch, like some of the pics here:  http://www.intimateweddings.com/blog/wedding-ribbon-adds-drama/ Whatever fabric or ribbon you use can help set the tone you want. 

I looked up "hippie wedding" on google images and saw cute cakes, flower hairpieces, sunflowers, vintage clothing, and tie dye.  It really can be as subtle or as zany as you imagine.
