Seattle is my absolute favorite city... eva!
There's so much to do. The city is amazing. There's so much culture and awesome coffee shops and bookstores. East is Mt. Rainer with beautiful trails along a glacier and lots of waterfalls. North is Anacortes where you can go whale watching. The orcas are amazing and it's where they shot Free Willy. Even more north is Canada. We did a day trip to Vancouver from Seattle during 2 of our excursions to the city. West (across the Puget Sound--drive your car up on the ferry) and to the coast is beautiful. Then south is Portland, which you already mentioned.

I could go on and on and on. If you decide on Seattle, please talk to me for more details. I'll post some photos for you when I get home.

ETA: Oh and don't let their reputation for rain sway your decision. Yes, it's a rainy city but it doesn't rain everyday. I actually got a sunburn in Seattle during one of our vacations there.

  • I picked Seattle/Portland because I heard there is a great food scene there!  :)
"It starts out all very nice, two people promising to be together forever, I'll die when you die, my life meant nothing until you used my toothbrush. Then you start planning the wedding. Aunt Junie's allergic to milk. Uncle Momo's off his meds..."
  • That's a REALLY hard decision.  I picked New Orleans, mostly because I love crawfish and beignets.

  • I picked Seattle, because I am originally from there and it is such a great city!  There is so much to see and so many things to experience.  Portland is also a great city, you would have a really great time there!

  • thanks ladies! keep the votes coming!
  • I have never been to any of the places but I picked New Orleans. I love history and that city is just full of it. Also, the buildings are amazing and I can only imagine how good the food would be.

I picked Charleston because I was just there with my fiance in March and it was just drop dead gorgeous! So much southern charm. We were supposed to leave by 11am but we just couldn't tear ourselves away until 2pm! We're thinking about going back there for our honeymoon, or just for a trip someday. I'm sure everywhere else would be good too :)

Oh, and we were in Savannah too - ditto on the charm factor. Everything is covered in Spanish moss! The downtown area is much smaller than in Charleston (it's basically the two blocks surrounding the river and not much else from what I could see) but we went to an excellent fish restaurant while we were there and saw the bench where Forrest Gump sits and tells his story.

  • Picked New Orleans simply because I'm from Vancouver and feel like Seattle is my sister city - I'm always so comfortable there more than any other city away from home.
Seattle would be awesome: Watching fish flying in the marketplace or do my favorite west coast activity: Sit outside a coffee shop and enjoy a mean cuppa joe while people watching. We do it all year (yay for heaters!)

New Orleans - My FH just went there for a WhiteWolf convention (if you don't know, don't ask lol) and loved it! He stayed right in the "French Quarter" and just enjoyed walking around. Went on a little tour and really enjoyed the foodie aspect (since we foodie around the west coast it was nice to foodie different food...we love food, eh?).
He also said that alcohol in the streets is legal there, so long as its in plastic/paper cups. Apparently there are margarita and other alcoholic slush machines everywhere!

I don't know the third city so I couldn't tell you. I don't think I've been to portland, oregon (if I had it was briefly to go to Oregon State...if I"m even correct on that!). Seattle is just so much fun to walk around (Find the troll!!!) and New Orleans seems awesome too.
  • Ok so i am having a destination wedding in New Orleans so I may be biased but New Orleans is literally one of the best cities in America!!! It is so full of life, history, architecture, amazing food, etc! Also, the people there are so amazingly friendly! I serioulsy wish I could go back every day!
