Alternatives to bouquets

Hi everyone! I'm having a small destination wedding (and usually post over on that board). However, I thought I'd come here to see if I can get some ideas from you girls!

I'm not a big flower person, and don't see the point of spending all that money on something that A. I don't care that much about, and B. is going to die after a day or two anyway.

For our centerpieces and decorations, we'll use a lot of candles. However, I'm looking for ideas as alternatives to carrying bouquets down the aisle. I feel like I need to carry something, but don't know what. I've heard of some people making bouquets out of different objects, rather than flowers (like pinwheels, buttons, paper flowers, etc), but none of those ideas really jumped out at me.

So, if anyone has any ideas on something else for me (and the bridesmaids) to carry down the aisle, please let me know! It does not need to match (ie, all the girls could have something different) and does not need to be traditional.

You could carry a favorite book or a parasol. I don't know where you destination is but you could carry something that fits with the destination, like a plush lobster for Boston. Bad example, I know, but just about anything thing will work.

I know that one girl on here is carrying balloons. My friend carried a bag of rocks (it was in a mesh bad). Maybe something made out of shells.

I'm using balloons. 

I love the idea of BMs carrying pretty clutches. Especially clutches with pretty flowers on them!

A girl on my month board made a bouquet out of broaches and beads and buttons and such.  It is SO PRETTY!  Her name is themrscabral, you should go to the November 11 boards, page her, and ask about her bouquet.

I'm a little partial to the parasol idea as that's one thing I'll be using. I like the idea of seashells if you're having a beach wedding. Is there any type of theme? Or where are you going? Maybe there's something from that place that you could use too. There have been lots of good ideas- there's also the idea of a hand fan- like feathers or lace. Have fun with it!

I love love love feather bouquets and centerpieces, but they are usually expensive even if you DIY.

Don't know where your destination wedding is, but I'm doing a shell bouquet! You can order them off of etsy.com and they can work with you on colors, silk flowers or not and such! i'm going to do either pinwheels or paper rosettes, they both are so fun and pretty! i have also seen the broach bouqet, that is also super cute.

i've heard about bridesmaids and bride carrying candles. i'm thinking of doing this.

I'm carrying a handfan down the aisle.  I am also not big on flowers, and wanted to do something different.  The fan also makes for extremely easy transportation and it's something I can keep forever.
