Camo themed spring wedding, Need ideas

So my fiance and I have decided to have a camo themed wedding for May 25, 2013. Ever since I was a litte girl I have always wanted the ceremony to be outside so we are getting married on our dairy farm but going to a local banquet hall for the reception. I don't want the camo to be everywhere and so far the only thing that is camo is the guest book, matching pen, ring bearer pillow, garter and possible his vest (I haven't decided yet). My matron of honor will be wearing a DB latte tea length dress and my five maid of honors will be wearing DB fern and DB truffle so they will be lined up latte, fern, truffle, fern, truffle, fern. My wedding dress is white and I will be wearing camo heels and my girls all decided on wearing gold heels. I think I might want pink and white tiger lily's as the flowers, otherwise maybe ivory roses but I really want to incorporate pink into it to make it a little girly. For the programs my matron of honor found programs that are fans that we are going to figure out how to make because it will be outside.

The reception is what I'm having difficulty with because I don't want the camo to be overwhelming and for the centerpieces both my fiance and I don't want real flowers because there's too many people in our family that has allergies. I saw an idea for a centerpiece that was a wreath that had berries in it and ivory roses and in the center was a tall candle and it looked really pretty but since it's going to be the end of May I kind of want it to a little bit more spring time than fall. We also want to incoporate the cows into the reception but not too much so we were thinking of making cows and putting some of the names of our cows on them for the tables instead of using numbers and having a camo collar with a cow bell around the cows neck to incorporate the theme. I'm stumped as to what to do for favors and I'm debating whether the name cards should be camo since we don't have it in many other places. Any ideas?

Re: Camo themed spring wedding, Need ideas

  • You don't need favors if you don't want to, can't afford to, etc. As for incorporating camo (this was our second idea on themes), you can have a camo border on the paper items like the place cards (I like the cow shaped/named table idea) and you could have the girls wear plain black dresses with a small camo sash (so they have a nice LBD but you get your camo).

I think candles look really pretty at any time (I'm using some and I'm a Feb bride). You could always get vases and glue/tie/etc. a small camo ribbon around the top/bottom/etc. of the vases, put candles into them, and scatter ivory/pink flower petals around them.

I can probably dig up/think of other ideas if you want more, just message me. :) GL

  • Would it be possible to find old milk bottles to tie in the cow/dairy farm part? Since you're wedding is more outdoorsy you could probably pull off this centerpiece idea:

If possible, get a tree slice (they are normally pretty thin, maybe an inch thick) and use it as the base for your centerpiece. Arrange the milk bottles on the tree slice with either camo ribbon/fabric or fill the bottles with colored sand, rocks/stones, etc. You could possibly put some greenery in the bottles like ferns and moss on the tree slice but I'm not sure how those work with allergies. Other options are candles/tea lights that you can get in darker colors to go along with your colors.

I'm sorry if I didn't explain it very well but here's an example of what I pretty much mean:

You can use camo fabric to wrap around the candles or milk bottles similar to that and you can arrange the mason jars or milk bottles on top similar to the second one.

    Hope this helps.
