My traditional looking offbeat ring.

My ring is very traditional looking. Honestly I never thought I would have a traditional looking engagement ring and always wanted a colored stone. But when I heard about Moissanite I changed my mind. Moissanite is created from the pressure of a "fallen star" meteor coliding with the earth. It has more fire than a diamond and is almost as strong with only a .5 difference in strenght. How about everyone else is there something that makes your ring offbeat?

My ring is a sapphire - it is my FI birthstone and blue is my favourite colour, so I didn't want any other stone but a sapphire.  In this day in age, that is off-beat, but sapphire has actually been a common stone for engagement rings for centuries, so not terribly offbeat.  It also symbolizes "heaven-bound", which is pretty cool.

I absolutely love sapphire! I have a star sapphire that was my great grandmother's but I'm scared to wear it. I would just die if I lost it. I have 2 engagement rings. One traditional that I wear on my left hand and another untraditional one that I wear on my right. The untraditional one is an antique rose cut diamond with black rhodium. I'm on my mobile so I can't attach a pic but I have one in my photos. I adore both equally. They represent my personality well as well as the feel of our wedding.

We went with meteorite bands (inlaid in titanium for comfort) and a I got a rhodolite garnet to add some pizazz. The garnet is raspberry pink. The meteorite quite literally formed over millions of years rocketing through space. We're science geeks. I couldn't ask for a cooler ring.

Mine is an antiquey looking black diamond ring. Very "my style"...FI did an amazing job picking it out!

Mine really looks antique.  It's got so much detail in it, with filligree (including heart shaped filligree), engravings, and 23 diamonds.  It's exactly what I would have picked out if I had shopped.
There are a lot of "antique" style rings out now, but nothing that looks like mine.  I've never seen anything that looks like my ring.  The most similar I've seen are actual antiques.

My ring was set with a sapphire when we were first engaged then after 3 years it was "upgraded" to a diamond. Now when I get married Ill have a erap with blue and white diamonds surrounding my engagment ring

Mine is a Mystic Fire Topaz. My birthstone is Topaz but I do not like orange so years ago I adopted Mystic Fire as mine. FI got me this one with the parameters of Mystic Fire center stone and white gold. I love it and people have been complimenting me on how unique it is.

@fre3doms Holy crap, I'm a topaz and hate my birthstone too!  However, I fit in with the Dutch - they love their orange.  I never adopted my own birthstone to replace it though.  FI is a sapphire, and I love blue sapphires, so my excuse for buying that kind of jewelery is that it's his birthstone.

@kerbohl. That totally makes sense about picking your FI's birthstone instead. They have several cool types of Topaz that are not orange. I like Mystic Fire more now cause it's purple and green and my FI birthstone is peridot which is green. I was always jealous of my best friend who has Amethyst.

I have a center sapphire, and the wedding band has two sapphires. It's exactly what I wanted, and my partner did an awesome job. Sapphires are my favorite stone, and I definitely didn't want a diamond. Plus, it means I get to explain to lots of people about what it means to me.

I also have a Moissanite ring! So much cheaper than diamonds but looks exactly the same!! Ordered it from an amazing jeweler in California from Etsy

Mine is florescent and glows under a black light. It looks completely normal in regular light.

I got a moissanite as well!  I LOVE IT!  I am against the diamond industry for a ton of reasons, but love the look of a clear, sparkly stone - so this was absolutely a happy find for me!
