My fiance and I are getting married in DC, but live in Maryland (which I think at the moment recognizes same-sex marriages performed in other states). But the federal government obviously does not recognize same-sex marriage. There is a law that was passed stating that a same-sex marriage license can be used to change your name on a passport, but what about with the Social Security office? I'm wondering if I have to use other means than my marriage license to change my name.
