I would suggest asking on your local board about wedding venues, and then calling those places to see how they would react to a same-sex couple.  This board is international, so there will be few from your area.  Also, same-sex weddings are still new enough that many vendors haven't yet dealt with a same-sex couple, even if they would be open to one.  If you get general recommendations of venues, and then call some of them, you are likely to find ones that are happy to deal with you.  And of course, if they are hostile, you don't have to book them.

I looked up Long Island, NY on:

I am not sure if you familiar with the site, but it is for same sex couples to go and find wedding vendors in their area, whom have been pre-screened to ensure they are indeed gay friendly! My fiance learned about the website while at a same sex wedding expo in CO recently.  Perhaps you can also use the site to find additional vendors as well. I copied and pasted Below it the location that came up in your area:

    Douglas Manor

    contact person: Thomas DeMartino
    Tri State Area
    63-20 Commonwealth Blvd
    Douglaston, New York 11363
    ph:718-224-8787

I am not from NY, so I have never actually been to the venue, but it looked pretty from the photos on-line! Hope this helps!

We looked at several places in NY-The Foundry in Long Island City is really nice and they seemed totally used to working with gay couples.

After some venue shopping and thinking about things, we decided to ask our friends and family to travel to CT rather then have a non-legal ceremony in NY and then another one in CT to have it be legal.
