depending on what day, you can get things really inexpensively. I know a lot of community centers are less than 2k and include some things like chairs, tables, ours includes plates, silverware, serving stuff but we aren't using it.

    what city are thinking?

My venue is the Browns Point clubhouse in Tacoma, it'sunder 2k and includes tables, chairs,  a security guard, plates, a full commercial kitchen, and you can use whatever caterer/baker you want.

Meeker Mansion is way under,  it's $375 for 5 hours http://skullbox.fatcow.com/meekermansion.org/weddings.html

Chapel on Swans Trail (my venue so it's awesomeWink)  from $900- $1800 depending on the day http://www.swanstrailchapel.com

Those are the first two spots that come to mind, but for a wedding that size there are definitely awesome venues under $2000

Heirtage Hall in Kirkland, run by Kirkland city parks dept.  Includes tables and chairs, pretty inside and out and while they say will hold up to 75, I think 50 would be more comfortable.

Robinswood House in Bellevue is $1600 for a Saturday (less for other days of the week), and it's really pretty!

Mercerwood Shore Club in Mercer Island has a view of Lake Washington from the reception room and will let you take bridal party pictures down by the lake. 8 hours is about $1000. 150 person capacity. Not very fancy but it felt better than a community center. The downstairs is a small gym (your guests don't have access to) and you overlook an olympic size pool from the deck. My first choice was Brownspoint Improvement Club it's pretty much booked for summer 2010.

I booked the Meeker Mansion for an October wedding and they cancelled.  I would stay far away from them.  The price is low but not worth the stress of starting over.

Oh wow.  How long after you booked them and how long ago did they cancel on you?  What was the reason?

Thanks everyone!  I am looking for something in or near Seattle (and not a church) and will definitely check out the ones you mentioned.

I would check with the parks department of the town you are looking at- or maybe give them a call. They often have lots of places under 2k and you dont need to add a lot of decoration if you are getting married in a place that has a nice view already.
