Grace and Speed

This is a post is totally due to impatience.  We are getting married next summer in Muskoka.  We have our church and reception site booked already, and both venues have beautiful outdoor areas for pictures.  I am looking for a rain plan now, because neither one has a particularly nice "indoor" area for pictures.  I thought about Grace and Speed (the in-water museum at Gravenhurst Wharf) and I remember reading that someone on here had their ceremony there.  My FI went to visit it and was really impressed, but they couldn't give him a price.  Apparently they need to call their accountant.  But I want to know NOW!  I was hoping to pay more of a "photo permit" price, but I am worried that they might want to charge more of a "ceremony" price...and I am wondering what that is!  Can anyone help me out?  And while we're on the subject - if anyone knows of a nice indoor area in the Gravenhurst/Bala/Glen Orchard/Port Carling area, I'd love to hear about it!

Rain plan is a good call, but also a tough call in Muskoka. It is so beautiful everywhere out there! The only thing I can think of, and its only because I went there a few times this summer for dinner (FI's parents have a cottage in Muskoka) is the new Marriot - it is INCREDIBLE. However, they may only let you take pictures there if you are getting married there, but it doesn't hurt to ask! Check out other hotels and local museums/galleries in the area. http://www.discovermuskoka.ca/things_to_do.php?s=42&r_ro=0&ke=&at=&ge=&se=&da=&ye= That's a link to all arts/culture stuff in Muskoka. Hopefully that helps. I hope you have a beautiful day - outdoor pictures would be so fun up there!

Thanks Littlin!  I've been poking around your link and there are some interesting sites there. I've been to both new Marriott's (Gravenhurst and Red Leaves) this summer as well, and you are right about their beauty.  I may just call and see what they have to say.

I was at a wedding in June on Lake Joe and wow - just beautiful!!  I'm so happy for you!  Your pictures will be incredible!!The wedding in June was on one of the many rainy weekends we had this summer and my friend came up with a great idea!  She found (or had made) large golf umbrellas made to match the colour of her Bridesmaid's dresses (Fushia Pink).  She also bought super fun yellow rain boots for her and her girls and they went out (holding her dress up) to take some pics.  I just saw the pictures two weeks ago and they are super cute!  So cute in fact that if that was the setting for my wedding and it was a sunny day, I still might hide in the woods and do this too!Oh, and she didn't get wet at all, just had to get help with holding her dress up a little.  She also had a plastic sheet with her to let her dress down for some of the pics.  If the umbrellas are large enough it will work.
