Vendor Reviews

So I really only peeked on here about a dozen times but you knotties really helped me out with some stuff, the day was amazing, its pretty much the nicest day we have had so far!  Only a few little hang ups (mostly with the controling MIL) but other than that all good things!!!

Venue - Hidden Meadows B-
It goes without saying the venue is amazing, the views and the buildings.  If you book here make sure you read the contract cover to cover word for word, there were 3-4 times that an extra $100 charge popped up, which adds up.  Also they dont allow you use real petals on the aisle outside (it did not say this in the contract we signed in July but does say it in the new one, the refused to go back on it) but they wont pressure wash the bird poop off the aisle either, little frustrating.  Fake petals are fine, but then you have to clean them up and they blow everywhere, we just didnt use any.  Except for the 10 that the flower girl dropped.

Catering - Pyramid A
There are about 7 cateerers that Hidden Meadows allows you to use.  Their food was typically mediocare but the menu was what we wanted as was the price.  The day of the wedding the food was PHENOMINAL, people are still talking about how good the food was.  So maybe they save up all their good cooking skills for the day of rather than the open houses, but seriously.  We did the celebration menu and people loved it.  Ben is a hoot to work with and while the hubby and I were taking a breather he kept bringing us refilled champagne and tons of appetizers.

Officiant - Scott Nicholson, An Authentic Ceremony B+
Scott and Jack instantly clicked (after meeting with 6 different officiants I was hoping they would) we found him just searching online.  Everyone loved the ceremony and talked about how original it was and how much fun it was.  Scott was a pleasure to work with, we even kind of forgot to pay him and he had no problem with us just sending him a check in the mail the next day, no big deal!  He was very laid back, which helped with the payment, but if your the type of person that needs to know things right away or stress really easy he might not be the best choice, phone calls and emails went unanswered for quite a while and the timeline of the ceremony he said he would have to me in a week took 3 weeks.

Photog - Jenny GG and Jen Wade A++++++++++++++++
Check out the blog, enough said.  I have a couple who are getting married next year who said they are going to be calling her and setting her up for their wedding.  Simply amazing, we loved her.

Hair and Make Up - Michelle Marshall and Kelly Peterson A
Michelle is a personal friend, she does runway hair and styling for commercials and ads, she doesnt typically do weddings but it was a favor, she was fantastic, we used extensions because my hair is mighty flat and she cut them to length, died them and kept them to blow out after our trial run.  Kelly works at the Laura Mercier counter at Nordstroms and is a friend from college, she did an amazing job and brought a friend with her to help with the 8 other women who had their make up done, we all looked amazing.

Cake - Mike's Amazing Cakes A
The cake looked amazing, I heard it tasted pretty good too.  The only bite I got was the one shoved into my face, so I have to go with what other people said.  But they were super easy to work with and the cake looked just like we had talked about.

Transportation - British Motor Coach A
No problems here, I know that the wedding party got a limo through them as well who ended up getting lost and it took them 2 hours to make it 6 miles.   But they said it was fun and quite the ride ( the driver even threw her GPS out the window at one point).  Our drive was much tamer but we had champagne in the limo and the driver was awesome.

Videographer - Linear Urban Kings Art A
This was more my moms project, but he filmed everything Im excited to get the footage, we asked for just raw footage we really just wanted the ceremony but he did EVERYTHING! So Im pretty happy.

Flowers - Loves me Flowers A+++++
Kendra is such a sweetheart, we changed so many things and she just kept right along, she did the curtains for the venue as well and they looked great.  I was IN LOVE with all my flowers, I really just wanted to sit and stare at them, my bouquet was simply stunning and I am trying to figure out how to keep it forever, but Calla Lillies dont quite dry like roses!!

DJ - Wave Link Music, Chris Cline A-
He did a great job, there was a mix up with times he thought he had until 11 PM but actually only had until 1030 PM.  So a lot of my requested songs did not get played and some people complained that there were not enough slow songs.  But he played 4 songs in a row that had the whole place jumping and dancing which is exactly what I wanted.  I thought he did great.

DOC - Stephanie Alejo A+
Steph did an amazing job.  I had nightmares that what I saw in my head of what the venue looking like wasnt going to come through.  But she saw my vision and took it to a place I never thought it could be.  She helped with the set up of everything and it all looked beyond what I ever could have expected, my breath was literally taken away when I walked into the reception hall.  She did a fabulous job manning the timeline and everything just ran so smoothly!

Tuxes - Mens Warehouse D
Im not sure what happened here, maybe they had new people on staff or some were trained differently.  When everyone went into get fitted, they only told a couple people that they needed to come back when the tux came in and do a second fitting (the boys in my WP arent the smartest, so they needed to be told this).  Some of them werent and were under the impression that they could just pick them up Fri or Sat and that would be that.  Its a good thing the word got past along, everyone had incorrect sizes, including the ring bearer who is 8 and stands at the same height as a 5 year old, they ordered him an adult size.  I was pretty frustrated with that and also when we called to make sure that everyone had been fitted at least the 1st time, they couldnt find our reservation, it was just gone.  It was pretty much a disaster, it was all handled and they looked great, but the stress was unneeded.

Gown - Cynderellies Closet A-
I love my dress, it is currently being cleaned and preserved, but I seriously love my dress, I want to wear it to work!  They were great to work with I ordered the dress, the bra, the hair piece and the veil from them.  The only thing that urked me was they did not call when things were in.  My dress had been in for like a week in a half and they didnt call.  The dress came in with a couple details ripped so they threw in the veil for free, which was very generous.

BM Dresses - J.Crew A
No problems here. The color and style I wanted was going out of stock so everyone had to order them rather quickly, then after the out of stock date they went on sale for about $40 cheaper.  The girls were able to call and get a refund which was very nice of J.Crew

All and all it was a pretty great day!

I saw your pics on Jenny & Jen's blogs!  Your wedding looked like it was a blast!  Thanks for sharing the reviews!  Would you like me to add it to the list of reviews to be added on the Seattle Bio?  Probably won't go on until mid-late July but if so, please let me know what your wedding date was and I will. :)

Thanks for posting! Very helpful! Glad to hear your day was amazing!

So besides the reasons you posted, is there any other reason to give Hidden Meadows a B-?

Nikkers:  Where did you get the Honey favors?  I noticed a pic on Jenny's site, but couldn't make out the name of the company.  I would love any additional info.

    Thanks!

Tygirl - Yes please feel free to use my review, the date was June 12 2010! Thanks for the love!

Trisha - No not really, everyone was very helpful.  Down to the last month, Kelly wasnt the best at returning emails and getting our questions answered.  To be honest the whole petal thing really ticked me off, not that they didnt allow them perse, but the fact that they didnt allow them for fear they would bleed on the concrete yet there was bird poop spread all over the aisle which they said they dont pressure wash, so that just urked me.  Other than that it was great! I wouldnt worry about a thing!  If you can fit it into your budget they have outdoor furniture for $250 to put out on the patio, it was a HUGE hit with my guests so I would say for sure splurge on that!

sarack - I know its just a sizing thing that sometimes they are a little off.  But I mean ordering an adult size for a child was just plain insane to me!! How do you make that mistake?

mgoss - So Jacks step dad has a honeybee business on the side and we ordered jars and used his honey, the labels we made from Staples were about $60.00 for something like 500 of them and then we got the jars from his dads supplier.
