Aging Gracefully

Of course this is not wedding related, but I want to hear your opinions.

I'm watching Oprah and Ali McGraw (Love Story) is on.  She came out and her hair is basically the same as it was 40 years ago.  She is 71 years old and has longish brown hair.  It kind of seems odd to me that her face looks like a 71 year old but her hair looks like a 30 year old.

So my question:

I love gray hair.  Well I love silver hair!  I really want to have it when I get older.  Plus I think it is pretty silly to dye your hair because everyone knows!

As a natural blonde, my hair is fair enough anyway that it might be quite a while after my hair starts going gray that it becomes noticeable.  And at that point, I probably won't care anymore, lol.

I have a few strands of gray hair now and currently do highlights and lowlights.  So I'll probably continue to do that leaving some gray but eventually transitioning to more highlights to just make some of the gray look blond.  I know that I will not completely color it though.

I already have a few grays (that Clint looks for and pulls out...) and I think dye it once I'm to the point it bugs me.  Once I get to a certain age and a certain gray I'll do the half dye thing.  They have this thing where it doesn't DYE dye it, it shows a little gray and blends with your hair color.  :)  I'll probably do that when I'm almost to all gray.

I've been coloring my hair since 8th grade.  We always joked that we wouldn't know when I go gray, but I've noticed a couple cropping up here and there.  I think 4 or 5 in total that I've seen, and I pulled them out Embarassed  I'm entirely too vain about my hair.

If I go gray like my mom, who has the most beautiful white hair you've ever seen, I will wear it proudly.  If I go like my grandma, who has more of a muddy brown-gray, I'll probably keep coloring it.

I totally agree! I remember being little and absolutely loving my Great Aunt Mary's hair- it was long, silver and she always braided it before bed and then wore it in a bun. Gorgeous! I think it's all part of life so I'm going to just go with it. I love my hair but not because of it's color but because it's long, well maintained an quite pretty if I do say so myself, haha! I will go with the gray flow!

Depending on how early I go gray I might start dying it. I will eventually let it go natural, because let's face it, I don't want to be 70 and still have brown hair... it's just not natural!!

I love gray hair. I don't know why. And I'm pretty sure FI will be sad if I color my hair.
