Monday QOTD

With school starting and fall approaching soon, are there any fall festivals in your town you like to go to?

Re: Monday QOTD

  • Our current town has a festival the Saturday before Halloween with a kids' costume contest (ADORABLE) and the dance school and HS marching band do a few performances. Not many vendors, though. It'll only be 10 days after my due date this year, so I don't think the baby (if he's here yet) and I will go. DH may go to see some of the youth group kids. It's seriously 2 blocks away from our house, so walking down there for a little bit is no big deal.
  • Some of you might have seen my post about Lentil Festival. Uuuugh. It takes place in downtown, which is where the library I work at is. They close our parking lot and the streets around our parking lot. So we have to find public parking somewhere else within walking distance (harder than one might think, especially with, ya know, a FESTIVAL going on) and walk over.

It's a pretty cool little festival, though. A giant vat of lentil chili, lots of vendors and free stuff from around the community, live music, etc. It just drives me nuts that it ruins my schedule at work. Haha.

  • my town does a fair in the middle of september but i won't go. it started as an agricultural fair almost 200 years ago but has evolved into more of a carnival.

We have a Mandarin festival that I love to go to, it's up in the foothills so the leaves are turning and there are lots of crafts and food. Also, we have this place near us called Apple Hill. It's awesome! I go every year. If you wait till later in fall, the leaves change and there are tons and tons of apple places that serve every apple dessert imaginable, and you can get pumpkins and crafts.. I love it. :) I love fall, my favorite time of year, I can't wait for it to be here!!

  • The fair! I didn't get to go last year because I was visiting the ILs. Looking forward to it this year!

Yay for Apple Hill. I live, well used to live, in the little town it takes place in. In fact my parents live right across from an apple orchard. I have a love/hate relationship with this time. On one hand, I love the apples, fall, leaves changing, caramel apples, Apple Struddle, and the magic of it all. On the other hand, I despise the tourists who decide to go 10 miles an hour on the 45 mile an hour road, they also do stupid and dangerous stuff like stopping on blind corners, spending 10 minutes at stop signs, make a 15 drive home from church into a 30-45 minute nightmare, and speeding up and slowing down at irregular intervals. Sigh, Bay Area people, when will you learn how to drive? Since I have been in Germany for the whole summer I can't wait to get back just as it kicks off and buy a whole box of Golden Delicious to eat!

  • Hmmm, I can't think of anything, but I want to come to your towns because those all sound like fun! I am excited for Pumpkin Spice lattes at Starbucks and pumpkin shakes at McDonald's (if they have the pumpkin shakes this year. Last year, the McDonalds' around me didn't get them until the end of fall and they only had them for a couple weeks)!
  • We have fairs... Everywhere has a fair ... It's fair season soon ... I luv me some funnel cake !

  • Our town has a TON. Some of the bigger ones are:
    Strawberry Fest
Corn Fest (I usually go to this one)
    Tomato Fest
Harrow Fair (I usually go to this one)
    Wine Fest

That town is cute :) my FI family lives in Shingle Springs, so close by. I love it up there :) But yes, I too hate October up there. I just won't go. I wait till the first weekend in November and by then it's empty and the leaves are changing and it is perfect!

If you come during the week it is perfect because no one but the locals are there and it's really quiet. :) Our BM lives in SS too! Yay for small towns. Do you live in Sac? Are you the FB group?
