Ok so just made up a new recipe and it was AWESOME! Thought I'd share with you

I made it two nights ago then FI requested it again tonight with the adjustments we had talked about making when I made it the other night. The original idea was steak, mozzerella, and sautted peppers and onions baked in phyllo, which was about all I did and it was good, but was SO MUCH BETTER tonight. Ok...so if you've ever worked with phyllo dough you'll do fine!
Ingredients:
1 pepper in strips (I used red and orange for the sweetness)
1 onion in strips (we prefer red onions)
steak cut in strips or bite sized pieces
fresh mozerella
phyllo dough
seasoned salt (we use Lawrys)
garlic powder
onion powder
butter EVOO
Season the raw meat with seasoned salt a few minutes before cooking so it can absorb the flavor. Saute peppers and onions in EVOO and some seasoned salt until they are hot through but still crispy. It works best if you start the peppers then add the onions since onions need less time. Let drain off excess oil. Brown the steak so it is only browned and still rare (since it will cook later in the oven). Allow steak and veggies to cool some. Layer phyllo sheets, brushing melting butter between the layers. I did 5 sheets and it was SO much better than the 8 I did originally. Between the layers sprinkle them alternatively with onion and garlic powder. Add mozerella, veggies, and steak to the middle of the sheets (I sprinkled a little extra seasoned salt on as well). Fold lengthwise then roll the ends up to make a packet. Place open end down in a cooking spray baking pan. Bake at 350. I'd say between 20-30 minutes...I didn't time it, just kept an eye on it.
It was SO yummy and flavorful! I love phyllo since its used so much in Greek cooking, so I plan to play around with this idea and make different stuffings...ham and cheese is my all time favorite mmmmmmm
