Bible verses for the ceremony

I was wondering which verses or passages you all love for the ceremony. I may be alone on this but I am not using 1 Corinthians 13. It is overused and has lost the meaning for me.

A few of my favorites are:

I found the one whom my soul loves. - Song of Solomon 3:4

This is my beloved and this is my friend. - Song of Solomon 5:16

We love 1 John 4:16-19. We were at Bible study one evening and we were using these in the lesson and FI leaned over and said he really liked them for ceremony readings.

"And so we know and rely on the love God has for us. God is love. Whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in them. This is how love is made complete among us so that we will have confidence on the day of judgment: In this world we are like Jesus. There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love. We love because he first loved us."

We haven't settled on verses for the ceremony, but we are thinking of using one of the Song of Songs verses you mentioned to print on the ceremony programs.  We are in the midst of looking at passages (at least 3 verses, some length is nice) for reading at the ceremony, but we're also open to what our pastor suggests.  If you aren't sure what exactly you want, you might tell your pastor what ideas you thought about and see what suggestions he has.

Let us know what you end up picking!! :-)

I'm totally using 1 Corinthians 13.  It's still kinda powerful to me, especially if you stop and meditate on it and really think about it.

We're using Jeremiah 29:11-13. It's not a typical wedding selection, but it has special meaning to us, and a really cool promise for the future. :)

"For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart."

    I love 1 Corinthians.
We decided to not go with the first 6 verses (chapter 13), which are the most common ones, but we are going to have 7-8a.
Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love never ends.

I think it is beautiful and, I haven't seen it been used before. (It probably has, I just haven't seen it)

I've narrowed it down to these:

    Song of Soloman 2:10-13, 8:6-7
    Tobit 8:5b-8
    1 Corinthians 13:1-13
    Colossians 3:12-17
    Mark 10:6-9

I'm pretty certain about using the Mark verse, but FI is going to help me decide on two more from the ones listed above.
