Tell me your favorite ways to relieve stress

The next week or two is going to be crazy stressful.  I'm the theatre director as well as the yearbook advisor.  Our yearbook is 2 weeks overdue, due to the fact that when they did the scheduling they 'forgot' to put us in a computer lab for our class.  The entire yearbook is done through an online system, so no computer = no getting it done.  We haven't been able to get into a lab since Feb!

So, I'm stressed because we have to get it done to have any chance at all of getting it here in time (and even with that we'll likely have to pay a rush fee), and at the same time I have a show opening on the 21st.  Add to that the fact that I teach 4 different classes with 4 unique curricula, none of which is canned so it's totally up to me to make it up...and i'm just slightly frazzled over here! ;-)

I did manage to get my grades done today, so that lifted a big weight, and my parents took us out to dinner to help me relax and force me out of the house for a couple of hours, so that was nice.

The biggest thing I can do is stay on track and get things done - that's really the best thing.  Sometimes, though, when I just can't take it anymore, I need something to help relieve the stress.  That's when I get in our hot tub or take a bubble bath.  What do you do?

That sounds like a lot!  Sorry to hear!

I used to go running, but ever since I herniated a disc in my back, I go for an hour's walk.  I ask FI for a back massage, if he's around.  Depending where I am, maybe just go and sit in a church or peaceful place.  And definitely lots of baths!

I do yoga when I need to unwind. Or I crochet :)

I like to take the dog for a walk, talk to my dad, my FI, or mom.  Sometimes I take a hot bath.  sometimes the best way for me to relieve the stress is to dive head-first into whatever it is and get it done so I am not stressing about it anymore, but that's not always possible.

So sorry you have all that on your plate -- that's just crazy.  "Core" teachers (English, Math, Soc Studies, Science) will never understand why teaching electives is actually more work.  Most elective classes do not have "canned" curricula as you say, and we have to create our own pacing guides as well as adapt the MANY options of what to study to our students' needs.  We can definitely be more creative, which can be really fun, but it's way more difficult than teaching to the test... :-)
July 16, Our Wedding Day, is also International Juggling Day!

Working out helps me. I go to the gym mad at everything and get in a good cardio workout then lift weights and I forget about stuff for a while. When I'm done I feel much more adequete at addressing whatever was stressing me in the first place.

I talk/yell to/at someone about it. Usually FI or my roommate. And something usually ends up getting thrown across the room and I usually throw myself on my bed a few times.

But I feel better afterwards. Hah.

Perfect, mrandmrsbrist :D haha I've done that, too, without throwing anything :P but possibly with more exasperated noises (makes my roommate happy, since apparently I do strange things in my sleep when I'm stressed). I get on theKnot :P or do something productive that I actually enjoy. I've actually been forced into relaxing a time or two, by not having my computer, everything being closed and nothing school-related to do, etc. I listen to music, read (only if I have enough time to finish :P)... Stayed up later than intended last night with my own mini bible study, that was very soothing.

I agree with Rachel about working out. Also, I talk to FI about it, pray a lot and get lots of sleep.  A lot of times lack of sleep leads to even more stress.

Hehe, I always do that, too, though sometimes it makes me more stressed afterwards, hehehe.  :-)
