NWR: a pastor at our church

Just got an email from the church secretary with an update on one of the pastor's at our church. He was having trouble recovering from being sick around the New Year but apparently, according to this email, he was diagnosed with cancer. I don't know what kind or anything, but the email says they think they removed it all and they removed the tubes down his throat so he's eating again. Now, he's one of the worship pastors...so because there were tubes in his throat I'm wondering if this will affect his singing? I'm not sure. Until this email I didn't even know he had cancer (he leads worship at Sunday services and we go to Saturday night services).

it probably will for a period of time, but I would imagine that was just the breathing tube. They tend to make your throat sore for a while, but it goes back to normal usually. Unless it was throat cancer of course in which case I have no idea

I am so sorry to hear this! I will be praying for a quick recovery!

His vocal cords will be dry and a bit rough for a while, you may notice his voice "catching" from time to time.  Personally I'd wait to do a lot of talking and singing until I can swallow without any dry irritations, but I'm usually overly-cautious about my vocal cords.  We only get one set, and I want to be able to use them to sing when I get to be my great-grandma's age (she's 96)!! :-)

Praise God he's on the road to recovery!

He's actually not involved in our wedding at all so that wasn't even a concern. I just feel bad that we didn't know prior (since he's been sick for a few months now) and could have been praying for him. I feel kind of guilty actually, because FH and I do not particularly care for this pastor's preaching style or worship leading style...he's your typical "evangelist" and we both like more personable preaching. He's just a little showey for our tastes which is why we generally do not go to Sunday worship (and we also love the worship style Saturday nights, hense why its called "Worship LOUD"). I was just surprised nothing was ever said about it at Saturday night services...while its different meeting times, its the same message, same church...a little sad we weren't informed. Oh well, least we can pray now!
