stressing about lingerie

This may be getting a little personal, but I'm stressing about wedding night lingerie. I can't find anything that is "special" enough. I know other ladies on here can appreciate the desire for wanting that perfect piece for your first time. I think I have tried on every piece of bridal lingerie at Victorias Secret and while I liked some I didn't LOVE any. So without asking for TMI, I'm just wondering for those of you who are already married, or those who aren't but found your wedding night piece, where did you buy it? I'm looking for options outside VS as I seem to have exhausted those choices (though I did find some other stuff for the honeymoon there!!)

Dillards has super nice stuff. I got a corset/ longline bra there and everything else at VS.

Aww, don't worry! I remember worrying about this a lot too. I looked around for a while for the right piece.

I ended up getting mine at Macy's. The department stores usually end up having the most variety I discovered. Macy's dept has a pretty wide variety.

FWIW, I pretty much buy everything now at Marshall's or Macy's. (And they usually have things on sale too!!)

Nordstroms.  Believe it or not, my mom gave me lingerie for the wedding night from there as a Christmas gift (and I opened it in front of my FI and dad!)  It was funny, because she's really conservative.  I like what she gave me.

Hmmm I wouldn't know anywhere besides VS, but the other suggestions seem good! I understand wanting to find the perfect thing, but I know whatever you choose, your new husband will LOVE it! I haven't started looking for that yet. I am wondering when the next semi-annual sale is- maybe there is something on sale!

I didn't wear any.  Turns out H isn't much of a lingerie guy.  He loves my underwear and bras, but doesn't care for the teddies or babydoll type things.  So I just wore my dress and he got me out of it.  We took a shower...and I'll let you fill in the rest ;-)

In 8 years of marriage I can count on one hand the number of times I've worn special lingerie.  Don't stress over it!

don't worry you'll find something! I ended up finding mine at VS buttttt I didn't buy a "bridal" one. I didn't care too much for their bridal collection and I sort of had the same feelings as you. I agree with PP about checking at Macys - they have great stuff and if I hadn't found the one I found, I would've gone to Macys!

Believe it or not, my favorite lingerie was given to me at my shower by a lady from my church!  She is a close friend of my parents and I actually am pretty close to her myself.  It was just pretty shocking that she gave it to me.  But I really liked it.  When I told DH, he said "How does it look on the floor?  Because that's where it's going to end up".  Ha ha - he was right.  It didn't stay on for very long.

I think she got it at a local department store around here (Boscov's).  They have some nice wedding lingerie.  But I don't know what you would have like that down there.  Don't stress about it.  I can guarantee that your FI will love seeing you in anything you wear (even if it is nothing at all).  Wink

I haven't decided what I'm wearing on my wedding night. I don't know if it is totally horrible not to wear white? Because I have bought some things I really like on my own (I'm loving this blue chemise, and doesn't blue represent purity?) Anyway, I purchased almost everything online at fredericks.com . Disclaimer: personally I find some of their stuff very unusual, *but* I find that they have way more styles I do actually like than VS and they are, on the whole, cheaper - especially when they have stuff on sale. I bought several things when they were having an additional 50% off clearance, and then on their "deal-of-the-day" stuff which is normally around $20. I have just found them to be more budget-friendly for me. I have found their sizing to be accurate and have loved everything I've bought- I actually felt beautiful and confident when I tried it on when it came in the mail, which is not what I was expecting...

I think my mom was trying to suggest us going to find something for the wedding night...I've kind of been hiding my stockpile  of wedding items in my closet. Probably a little pathetic!

Fredrick's of Hollywood has a lot of different styles of stuff too. It seems a little over the top sometimes but they have a lot of nicer things as well.

I got mine from VS, but it's red.  There's no rule that your wedding night lingerie has to be white, lol.  And I know it's a bit weird, but I asked FI what he would like.  He said "red lace."  So, I got a red eyelet lace babydoll and thong set from VS.  I'm thinking he's gonna love it and I don't mind it so bad myself!

Not horrible at all IMO! I say wear what you want and wear what you think FH will like!

Don't stress too much.  It won't stay on very long.  But PPs have given you some great suggestions!

Did you think of trying jcpenney or carsons?  I've gotten lingerie from jcpenney before, but I still haven't figured out what kind of undies I'm going to wear either.  I have an iron on rhinestone bride thing that I was going to put on my undies for the wedding, but I wanted to find a pair that were cotton with some lace trim.  I don't like thongs cause they are not comfortable.  Good luck to you.

I wouldn't stress about wedding night lingerie. Honestly you'll probably be too tired, and if you actually do it, you may not have the energy or the time to "get ready" and dress up before hand. Save the nice lingerie for the HM. And no it doesn't have to be white! Black and/or dark colors are always sexier. But if you ask most guys they prefer no lingerie at all and just want to see you naked. (TMI) It comes off pretty quick and essentially is money wasted.

On another note, I've gotten all my lingerie from VS, but I also like Fredericks of Hollywood if you're looking for something more racy.

I got mine at the Semi annual sale at VS. It's dark purple and I love it. I understand stressing out about little things like that but like most of the other PP said, it won't be on  for too long. I don't think I will even wear the outfit for the first night. But you will find something and it will make you feel amazing. In the end feeling great in it is all that matters :) Good luck on the hunt

You don't have to wear white!!

I did because I was feeling sentimental about it - but by all means - wear whatever color you want!!

I have one of those rare guys that will actually appreciate my lingerie. Which is good because I love wearing it! But- I seriously doubt I'll wear the fancy panties under my wedding dress. I'm goning to wear comfortable ones that I know won't ride up and leave me uncomfortable in front of the church. Also- get whatever colors you want! It doesn't have to be white!

Also VS has more stuff online. I got this for like, $20 at one of their sales. (Which usually start last week of june or first week of july in the summer and then the week after christmas in the winter.) I also signed up for their credit card after I got engaged and got one coupon a month for six months. They were things like $15 off a bra and free panties. So i've been building my collection for a while now!

I'm actually not going to pick out what I'm going to wear... he is!

the deal is, he can buy something OR he can choose from whatever I bring.  makes it really easy on me!  no stress there, I just have to make sure and show up with a variety!

I also suggest trying Fredericks of Hollywood.  Yes, a lot of their stuff is quite racy, but they have some beautiful pieces as well.  I bought a beautiful, flowy babydoll/thong set and matching robe for a good friend of mine for her lingerie shower, and she (and her new husband) loved it.
