Puppy update

Cody Coyote went to the vet this morning.  He does indeed have kennel cough, which the vet said may be causing his potty issues.  He has drugs to treat the illness and we were given orders not to let him do any heavy exercise for about 2 weeks.  Light walks it is!

Jacko-pea is adjusting.  Last night he seemed to realize that Cody isn't going away and he's begun to stand his ground to Cody, not letting him take away the bone or force Jacko to leave the chair he's sitting in, that kind of thing.  It will take a few more weeks, but we seem to be on the road to harmony.

Finally, we're re-housebreaking Cody.  So far so good.  The real test will be in a couple weeks when we start trying to let him signal to us when he needs to go instead of us dragging him outside every hour "just in case."

Sounds like you guys have made some progress!  I didn't have anything to offer on the puppy thread a few days ago but I am happy to hear that you guys could get him to a vet.  Poor puppy!

Glad everybody's healthy. Kennel cough is pretty common for rescue dogs, unfortunately. It'll go away soon. FIs dog had that and although it was gross it went away fairly quickly. I'm glad that your dogs are going to be happy and healthy :)

Yup, Jacko had it when we got him, too.  His was already diagnosed and he'd already been started on medication, though.  We actually never heard Jacko cough when he had it, so we weren't 100% sure that's what was going on with Cody.

He seems to be feeling better this morning - total wild child!

Just wanted to say that I love reading about your dogs. :) My family had a chocolate lab and a yellow lab when we lived on the farm. After we moved to the "city" (really isn't much of a city, but it still wasn't the farm), the yellow lab had to be put down. The chocolate lab is still doing well, but I haven't been able to spend much time around her since coming to school.

Glad they're on the way to harmony and being healthy, happy pets (isn't that an advertisement for petco or something?).  I am always worried about my Molly Bear's bladder but today she held it all in for almost 8 hours - go Bear Bear!!

I'm glad you got a good diagnosis and know what to do to help him.  And it sounds like you are feeling better about the other issues so that's great too!
