Unity Ceremony

A little background...
My mom specifically told me that she doesn't want a corsage, so I don't want to give FMIL one and not have my mom have one. I know FMIL would be sad if we didn't do something special for her, and while my mom isn't into that stuff at all I think it would be nice to acknowledge her in some way anyways. Unfortunately, my mom is really shy and hates anything that singles her out, especially getting up in front of people. I want it to be special, but not embarrassing for her.

I'd like to do something for them during out unity ceremony, we're doing a sand ceremony. I was thinking that maybe would could walk down to where our moms are sitting and present each of them with a flower. I'm just not exactly sure how to fit it in. If anyone has some suggestions or any other creative ideas that would be great!

We're also doing sand -- our moms are going to bring the individual vase of sand in with them as they are seated.  That's all the recognition my mom wanted, she also doesn't want to be the center of attention.  Maybe that could work for your mom too? 

Or maybe if you give them a flower, they don't have to stand up to receive it - you go to them where they are seated.

The wedding I attended last weekend did this exact thing, it was meaningful and yet guests didn't really even see the mom's faces.  So, it definitely wasn't up in front of everyone like that.  After they lit their unity candle, they picked up flowers from the altar and handed them to the mothers and grandmothers and then each got to hug both bride and groom, it was fine, not a distraction, a nice sentiment.  Usually there is a song during the unity candle, but the unity candle actually only makes a minute tops, so this kind of filled in that time.
