urgent prayer for FI

So... my FI just called me and told me that the job that has been lined up for for MONTHS is not going to happen. the boss said that he just doesnt have enough work. we were REALLY counting on that job and that income and now my FI feels lost. he is very very stressed out and frustrated. we have 2 months to pay all of our wedding expenses and my paycheck alone wont cover the bills. he wasn't looking for a job when he got home for school because we thought he was going to have this job.
ah! i know God will provide but just pray for peace. thank you!

I'm sorry to hear that.  Remember that everything is in God's plan and maybe there's a better job that's ment for fiance.  But I know more than anyone how when going through times like these it's really hard to put your trust in god and know for a fact that everything is going to be ok.

I'll pray that God Reveals his plan for this soon so you can have a peace of mind.

It is scary but don't stress. It will all come together. If there are any little things that you can cut out, maybe consider it! For example, did you rent fancy chairs? Maybe use the chairs that are being provided instead.

    Don't worry!!

This is a good idea,  I would also suggest look at other places you can cut costs without changing the feel of your wedding.  Have you finalized flowers?  You could cut some costs on the flowers.  You can have the same number of centerpieces and boquets and everything but make them smaller take a few flowers out of them.

ya... our flowers are actually the cheapest things. haha. all we are doing is small bouquets and bouts... no floral decorations except a single flower on the aisle.

we were gonna have our ceremony outside with rental chairs.... so i think we are gonna cut that out. our ceremony music (which i was VERY excited about) was a live instrument... so i think we'll have to cut that and just have our DJ do it.

Our cake is like $350 so we may have to just make the cake ourselves. idk. we may even switch the site to somewhere else (the venue is $1200) so that would save us money. idk.

we are meeting with our wedding planner today in like 2 hours so i am gonna talk to her and see what she says. i REALLY REALLY dont want to push the wedding back.

Definitely don't push the wedding back, and I wouldnt' try to change the venue this late in the game, either..  I wouldn't make the cake yourself, they aren't easy, but you could do a small cake for cutting and photos and then do sheet cakes, aka kitchen cakes, that are cut and brought out so no one actually sees them.  The Costco half sheet cake feeds 48 and is $15.99.  Even if you needed 10 of them, that'd only be $160 - and you shouldn't need 10.

Favors, programs, pew decor, aisle runners...all that can go away.  Check with your florist and see about changing the flowers.  There might be something that is seasonal and you could switch to that to save money.  What else do you have?  Lay everything out here, we'll help you cut.  I'm really good at gigantic weddings on a budget ;-)

    Great post!

And yes! Please lay everything out and we can all work together to make it happen. I'm having a pretty large wedding with some extra fun stuff on a limited budget. If we all pool our brains together, we can do it!

I'm praying!  Let us know how your FI's job search goes.  There are ways to cut expenses, especially on things you were planning to buy that you haven't bought yet.  I.e. if you were going to do favors and programs but haven't bought them yet, don't.  I would leave the venue as is, but I'm sure there are ways you can cut down costs of other things.  Maybe if you changed your cake flavors to all plain white cake you could have the same cake the same size for cheaper?

thanks ladies for the prayers! i truly appreciate it. we met with our wedding planner yesterday and we talked a little about cutting some things.

we won't be having favors (which i am totally fine with! lol). she said that our cake is too big (lol) and that we can stay with the same amazing lady but do a small cake for show and then do a sheet cake (just like DramaGeek suggested! lol). Our wedding planner is also letting us use her aisle runner for free (praise God!). we did get great deals on everything and i am thinking we can do this. it is the wedding i dreamed of and i know we just need to trust God.
We talked budget with FMIL too and she is going to help as much as she can and ask other family to help too.

our wedding planner said a way to cut cost is to have a "share" instead of a toast. its pretty much the EXACT SAME THING except we dont have to buy champagne and sparkling soda or rent the champagne flutes. for a toast the DJ would say "alright everybody the wait staff is coming around and will be pouring sparkling cider/champagne for the toasts". okay... if we just do a "share" the DJ says "alright everybody if you could bring your attention to the best man, he would like to share something about the bride and groom."
such a little difference, same effect, and would save us like $200!!!! BUT FMIL wants to have a traditional toast. so.... i guess we will.

Why does it have to be called a "share" just because the waitstaff (YOU'RE HAVING A WAITSTAFF?!) doesn't bring around champaigne?  It's still a toast, lol.

Ditto Amanda.  We didn't use any special drink for our toast, my dad just made the announcement that everyone should make sure their glass was full with their drink of choice and then he did the toast.

I'd skip the bouts too... DH and I thought that the guys would look silly wearing little flowers so he and his guys just wore the pocket squares that came with the tux rentals. That cut back on the florist bill.
