anyone have a unity cross I could rent/borrow?

okay, this probably will sound tacky, but I can't afford to buy a unity cross, but I really want one - I'm having an outdoor ceremony so a unity candle will not work - and I don't like the idea of unity sand.  The 3 corded rope is pretty cool, but the unity cross is so perfect.

I'm getting married october 8, 2011. I might be able to raise enough money for it, but i'm on a very tight budget.

I don't mind if it's been engraved, no one will look that closely at it (hopefully)  I'll pay shipping both ways. Please please please, someone who's used this, please let me borrow it?

    Sorry, I haven't used one.

If you wanted one you could keep afterwards on display, what about finding a friend who is good at construction/woodworking to make you one?  It shouldn't be that complicated, the pieces look pretty straightforward and you could use any design in the middle.

If it's just the outdoors that is stopping you from using the unity candle, you can rethink it - lots of girls use pillar candles in tall glass vases (hurricane vase?) so that the candle doesn't blow out.  It seems to be a pretty common solution:

I don't have a unity cross, but you could try posting this on your local board too and see if anyone responds. Good luck in finding one!

no, there are other reasons I don't want a unity candle - It's so boring, normal, and traditional. I wanted something unique and different. I know a guy who might be able to build something like this, but i'm not sure. I'll have to talk to him.

Shipping is actually really expensive.  If you can afford shipping both ways to borrow one, then you can afford to buy one.  Why not ask someone close to you (parents, etc.) if they could buy you one as a wedding gift?

shipping's not bad if you have flat rate boxes (which I do). I ship things all the time and the most I've ever had to pay was $12 for a 15 lb box.  so, if it was $12 both ways, that's only $24 - alot cheaper than $130!

I know I'm late on this but if you want something different and the unity cross is out of your price range you might check out the post a few down from here about the cord of three strand or Gods Knot. They are unique too, share the symbolism and are MUCH cheaper.
Edit: There is a link there about where to buy one but it would be incredibly simple ti DIY too.
My baby Buster. FI is jealous cause I love him more.

yeah, I've read about God's knot - even began buying the materials, FI doesn't like it as well as he likes the unity cross. I sort of agree.
