Long version:
We found out March 17th that FI has been placed in Columbia, SC, for his residency. Not quite where we wanted to go. When I started looking for jobs for myself, I saw that options were limited. FI found out that since he will be considered faculty, I could take classes for free. The opportunity for me to get my doctorate was placed right in front of me!
Of course, the application deadline was in December, but I was told I could apply late. GRE scores are good for 5 years, and I had taken mine 4.5 years ago - just within the timeframe. I found out on Thursday that I was accepted into the program! I am so amazed that a move that initally seemed disappointing has resulted in so many opportunities. I'm sad that I'm leaving my current job, but when God closes a door, He really does open a new one!
Short version: I got into the graduate program I wanted!
