Married Poll

It seems like it has been a while since we did this, many of you have gotten married and I’ve seen some new posters. So questions (there are two posts - married, engaged):

1. When did you get married?

2. What were some of your favorite moments in the ceremony? Reception

3. Post your favorite picture (can be a pic of you or a wedding detail)

4. What advice do you have to offer now that you have had your wedding?

5. What was your biggest worry before the wedding and how did it work out?

6. Where did you go for your honeymoon? How was it?

And go!

[QUOTE]
1. When did you get married? October 10, 2009
2. What were some of your favorite moments in the ceremony? I think that walking into the chapel and seeing DH was pretty special because I knew I would walk out with him as a married couple!
Reception - Our toast was pretty funny and just spending time with friends and family was really great.

3. Post your favorite picture (can be a pic of you or a wedding detail) My favorite picture is my siggy pic.

4. What advice do you have to offer now that you have had your wedding?
Take time on your wedding day to take it all in and make a point to say, "I want to remember this moment" and commit it to memory. It does go by quickly. Also, after the ceremony and before your reception, spend at least a few minutes with just you and your new hubby to reflect on being married.

5. What was your biggest worry before the wedding and how did it work out? I worried about people getting to and from our wedding safely. I had this irrational fear that someone would get in an accident and I'd feel horrible/responsible. Thankfully, everyone made it to and from the wedding safely!

6. Where did you go for your honeymoon? How was it? We went to Miami to a Dolphin/Jet Monday night football game. Then we went to Orlando to Disney for a week. The game was so much fun and Disney was pretty fun except that we both got sick.

1. When did you get married?
August 14, 2010

2. What were some of your favorite moments in the ceremony?
Our first dance! We had a swing dance! and saying our vows (we wrote our own!)

3. Post your favorite picture (can be a pic of you or a wedding detail)
Hmm, don't have any on this computer so I'll just say look at my married bio!

4. What advice do you have to offer now that you have had your wedding?
Take that last week to RELAX and don't do anything except enjoy the special time. I planned like crazy for months so I wouldn't have to do anything! The day before our wedding I was out tubing on the lake and making smores. Totally worth it!

5. What was your biggest worry before the wedding and how did it work out?
Rain - we had an outdoor ceremony. It was perfectly sunny!

6. Where did you go for your honeymoon? How was it?
San Souci - Jamaica. It was awesome! We loved it!

1. When did you get married?
21 Aug 2010

2. What were some of your favorite moments in the ceremony?
When our pianist didn't stop playing my processional piece just because my dad and I reached the front of the chapel - he finished it, which was awesome.
Plighting my troth during the vows! We took half of our vows straight from the BCP (though since the Anglicans had already started going liberal back in the '20s, we added "obey" back into my vows). It was so fun hearing our pastor ask, "Who giveth this woman...?" and so forth.
Walking out to "Frog's Theme" from Chrono Trigger. Definitely the best recessional piece ever.

3. Post your favorite picture (can be a pic of you or a wedding detail)
I haven't got anything handy.

4. What advice do you have to offer now that you have had your wedding?
* It _is_ possible to start on time. Our wedding started on the dot. It was great - everyone said it was the most punctual wedding ever.
* Plan for your wedding night; it's important.
* Have a short engagement.
* Simple is good, really, really, really good.
* If you have really good vows, it will totally distract everyone from the fact that you skipped the kiss.
* Don't dawdle with the honeymoon. Take a week. At least. And pretty much right away, too. Given the way that pre-marital sex is pretty much taken for granted nowadays, people have a tendency to underestimate the importance of the honeymoon. Take the time to go someplace different and be entirely on your own. Don't put all of your money into the wedding ceremony only to end up with nothing for the honeymoon- budget for it. That was some of the best advice we received prior to the wedding.

5. What was your biggest worry before the wedding and how did it work out?
I'm prone to short-term memory fails when I'm stressed, so I was worried that I'd forget one (or more!) of the lines for the vows from our pastor. My husband says I mixed up a few words, but that otherwise I was fine - I did, at one point, actually forget what he'd said, but I made it up based on what I thought he'd had to have said, and it was pretty much right.

6. Where did you go for your honeymoon? How was it?
Monterey. It was great. There were clouds, which are awesome. I'm generally sick of SoCal's perpetual sunny-ness (I say as it's raining unseasonably outside).

1. When did you get married? June 26th, 2010

2. What were some of your favorite moments in the ceremony? Our vows.. we both teared up.. actually I cried and had to recompose myself. I got so many compliments after about how beautiful our personal vows were. Reception Just seeing everyone I love all in one room at the same time, oh and of course DH and one of his GM's rap to Warren G's Regulators.

3. Post your favorite picture (can be a pic of you or a wedding detail)

4. What advice do you have to offer now that you have had your wedding? Eat!! I thought I had enough to eat before the wedding but apparently all I had was a little fruit, a finger sandwich, and some champagne. I felt so sick right before the ceremony and almost passed out. The heat had something to do with it as well, but we had a private reveal and were supposed to get all our pictures out of the way, but I ended up running off thinking I was going to be sick.. not good for business. My mom and my wedding coordinator saved the day by cooling me down and getting me some crackers, peanut butter, and gingerale. There were all these great snacks in the bridal suite and I was just too excited to eat!

5. What was your biggest worry before the wedding and how did it work out? Rain.. our ceremony and cocktail hour were outside, so I worried for a year and a half that it would rain and we'd have to move everything inside. It all worked out and everything was perfect and beautiful.

6. Where did you go for your honeymoon? How was it? Vegas for 2 nights, then rented a car and drove to LA where we flew to Fiji for another 7 nights. A M A Z I N G!!

Love this post. Maybe it should be made into a sticky for all the future married ladies to keep adding to and so soon-to-be married ladies can get the advice!

In Response to Married Poll:
1. When did you get married?
July 24th, 2010
2. What were some of your favorite moments in the ceremony? Reception?
Sadly, I was so distracted by how HOT it was that as our minister said "I have just three things to share with you..." I could feel the sweat dripping down my thigh and all I could think was ""Can you share just one thing?" Ha. Actually, a favorite memory is that of BM reaching over to gently mop DH's sweaty forehead with a hanky- it was a well-timed gesture, both loving and hilarious. We all cracked up. Here's the moment:

3. Post your favorite picture (can be a pic of you or a wedding detail)
I can't choose just one!
4. What advice do you have to offer now that you have had your wedding? Have a trusted someone take away your cell phone. MOH grabbed mine before the rehearsal dinner, said "you'll get this back AFTER the reception" and magically, my worries dissipated because she was up taking my calls the morning of while I slept peacefully until 10:00!
5. What was your biggest worry before the wedding and how did it work out?
My little sis- a BM- has bipolar disorder. It's nasty. When she's feeling good, life is swell. When she's feeling bad....I was worried she would find drama to create, like she did at our grandfather's funeral three months prior to the wedding when she ripped me a new one very publicly. It was the kind of thing that looked bad for her, not me, because our family knows her words were unfounded. But she was shockingly pleasant through the whole thing and is smiling in every photo. I'm so grateful. we all had a wonderful day
6. Where did you go for your honeymoon? How was it?
Oahu. 7 nights on the quieter, less populous western shore and two nights in Waikiki. Saw the Lord's provision in every way imaginable. We had such a great time!

Soon2be - the place where we stayed the night before the wedding was also the site of the ceremony and reception. They didn't get any cell service there. I hadn't thought of that before, but it was probably a blessing that I couldn't use my phone!

2. What were some of your favorite moments in the ceremony? Reception
Ceremony: Hearing the processional song begin and thinking, "It's really happening. I'm really about to marry him."

4. What advice do you have to offer now that you have had your wedding?
I can't really think of anything that hasn't been said.
Have a backup in case of inclement weather.

5. What was your biggest worry before the wedding and how did it work out?
I was worried about rain. It hailed for at least 45 minutes, rendering the lawn impossibly soggy and leaving puddles everywhere. But we had an amazing sunset!

6. Where did you go for your honeymoon? How was it?

Glacier and YNP. It was fun. Some surprises and poor planning along the way, but I will always have very happy memories of the trip.

1. When did you get married?
Sept 4,2010

2. What were some of your favorite moments in the ceremony?
My fav ceremony moment was walking down the aisle and just seeing him! At the ceremony - it was all amazing! I guess I loved our First Dance.

3. Post your favorite picture (can be a pic of you or a wedding detail). I picked 2!

4. What advice do you have to offer now that you have had your wedding?
Enjoy the day and don't sweat the small stuff. It's the beginning of the rest of your life!

5. What was your biggest worry before the wedding and how did it work out?
My biggest worry was just that all of the wedding party would get along cause there was drama during the planning cause they didn't know each other. They got along great and are now even facebook friends!

6. Where did you go for your honeymoon? How was it?
We went to a resort called Sugar Ridge in Antigua. It was amazing - I felt like I was living in a postcard. The water is so blue it looked like it had food coloring!
And go!
