Book?

Hi there... I'm kind of a lurker (mainly post on NEY). But I have a question that I know you ladies would have ideas for. I want to start reading some kind of devotional with my sig. other, something that would prep us for marriage and get us talking about things we wouldn't think of otherwise. Do any of you have books you would recommend? Thx!

Re: Book?

  • It's by Gary Chapman... Same person who wrote the 5 Love Languaes, I think it's Things I Wish I knew Before I got Married... Something like that , It's not egzactly and devotional but it has questions etc to discuss . 5 Love Languages is an absolute must as well in my book... Anything by Gary Chapman we really like.  We read both of them before we were engaged.

  • I loved Love and Respect. We also read His Needs Her Needs together. I don't agree with ALL of the points in that one, but for the most part it was good.

Are you looking for more marriage prep or devos?

I guess both really... def. marriage prep, but ideas for devotionals to do together afterwards as well!

  • Men Are Like Waffles, Women Are Like Spaghetti by Bill and Pam Ferrel is one of our favorites.  Since you're NEY, I'd recommend the singles version.  The original title discusses things that really should wait until closer to the wedding, or even after you're married.

We also went through the "Saving Your Marriage Before It Starts" book and workbooks by Les & Leslie Parrot for our premarital class.
  • I do have Men Are Like Waffles, Women Are Like Spaghetti! I haven't finished it yet, just got it. But thank you for the other ideas! I'll take a look at all of them!
