My grandmother is in the hospital. If anyone remembers a while ago I posted about my grandma having dementia and just really causing a lot of pain and stress for my family. She refuses to leave her house though she can't live on her own. She won't cook, clean, or DO anything. She can't drive, she doesn't live, she just exists. Anyway, my parents couldn't get ahold of her Friday afternoon until they got to her hosue Saturday afternoon. She lives 45 minutes away so they drive every week to check on her, call her every night to make sure she takes her medicine and eats. They found her on the floor in the living room. She had fallen sometime in the past 24 hours, couldn't hear the phone, couldn't hear my dad banging on the door to come in. She was taken by albulance to the hospital Ended up that her hip was broken and she had surgery yesterday. It was yesterday morning and it supposedly went well but it was the worst case scenario for broken hips. She'll be in the hospital for a few days, then be moved to rehab, then be moved into a nursing home or living situation.
There is somewhat of a blessing in disguise here. This was the final straw, my grandmother will not be returning to her home. She has no idea thats happening yet. Dementia causes her to be verbally aggressive so it could be a blowout when she finds out. But it is SUCH a blessing because she can't live alone, it is not safe for her and too much stress for my family. She will finally be getting the help she needs. Now my parents have to start the tedious process cleaning out her house and deciding what to do with it...it will be a long process because she hasn't cleaned it in years...its a mess, much like those "hoarder" houses, but moreso with filth than clutter

Just keep my grandma's healing process in your prayers. Thanks so much.
